Incumbent opponent of Jake Towne for Congress exposed!
Citizenship is a right protected by the U.S. Constitution; it is not a mere privilege to be taken away by whim. Nevertheless, several members of Congress are sponsoring a bill that would allow the government to take away certain people’s citizenship and kick them out of the country.
The Terrorist Expatriation Act, presented by Sens. Joe Lieberman, I-Conn., and Scott Brown, R-Mass., and Reps. Jason Altmire, D-Pa., and Charlie Dent, R-Pa., would enable government officials to revoke U.S. citizenship from people who commit acts that are deemed “terrorist” in nature. Such people could then be deported.
This measure would create a powerful tool to use against activists of all political stripes. Could a person be considered a terrorist simply for protesting government policies to the point of advocating violence? The threat of expatriation could effectively stifle valid dissent.
