View Full Version : How Does Wyoming Work, and What's Our Plan?

I found this link:

http://www.breitbart.com/article.php?id=D8RAPI500&show_article=1&catnum=3

Is this still accurate?

Wyoming doesn't have caucuses or primaries. Instead, the state's Democratic and Republican parties select some of their delegates at county conventions and the rest at statewide conventions.

After choosing 12 delegates in the county convention (on January 5th), the state GOP will select 16 more at-large delegates at a statewide convention May 30

Sounds complicated. Who can vote at the county conventions? Are the Ron Paul meetups in Wyoming on top of this?

A strong showing in the county conventions could be the first "shot across the bow" at the media-anointed "top tier" candidates.

search this forum a bit. There are people in WY here that have the plan.

Wow -- what a convoluted process....

I'll add more information as I have it.

I spoke to the Wy Republican Office this morning. Committee people are elected, with the next election

occurring in 2008 -- HOWEVER, if there is a vacant spot in your precinct, you can go to the county chair of

your precinct and request to be appointed. I have maps and vacancies for some counties, but not all yet - still

working on that.

It'd be awesome if we could get a list of vacant

precincts, a precinct map and contact information for each county chair together, preferably before Oct. 28 - as

I'd like to print out the information and hand it out down in Cheyenne then.

A pretty good starting point is with the county clerk of each county. List is here:

To any of you guys that might know, can Paul place in the top 3 in WY? I know he visited there a while back, but is the support there for him?

The mountain states are his STRONGEST areas, per capita. But it all comes down to if we can get the vote out. Caucuses are THIS week in many counties.

Letter from the campaign:

------

December 7, 2007

Ron Paul's presidential campaign for freedom, peace, and prosperity is growing daily. Our goal is to win, and we have only one shot at electing Dr. Ron Paul.

Here is our 3-step plan to convert all of our enthusiasm and energy into Republican Party delegates for Ron Paul in Wyoming!

Step 1: Attend your Republican Party County Precinct Caucus, which are scheduled for December 11-26, 2007. Bring all Ron Paul supporters in your precinct! Check your County's Precinct Caucus Calendar for dates, times and locations.

At the caucus, elections will be held for delegates and alternates to the County Convention. Precinct committeemen and committeewomen are automatic delegates. All persons elected to be delegates/alternates at the County Convention must be registered Republicans in their precinct on the date of the call to the convention.

Step 2: Fill a precinct opening! Some counties are still filling precinct committeemen and committeewomen openings. Call your County Republican Party and ask them if there is a "PC opening" in your precinct, and that you would like to fill this vacancy. For example, if you live in Cheyenne, you could call the Laramie County Republican Party Chairman, Jerry Zellars. Tell him your precinct number, and ask him if there is a "PC opening" in your precinct. If there is, let him know that you would like to fill this vacancy today.

Step 3: Check with your local County Clerk's office ("Elections Office") to ensure you are registered as a Republican in your precinct. If you don't have a "Voter Registration card" already, you can get one at your local County Clerk's office ("Elections Office"). Bring this card with you on the day of your County Precinct Caucus. [This may not be required, if you are already on the voter registration list].

Voter registration information and registration locations, and a listing of all the County Clerk's Office contact information, see the two links below:

http://www.wygop.org/RegisterToVote/Information.aspx
http://soswy.state.wy.us/election/clerks.htm

Feel free to contact me directly if you would like more information about the upcoming County Precinct Caucuses, or if you need any assistance.

Thank you for supporting Ron Paul and being a part of the Hope for America!

Best Regards,

Carl Bruning
Wyoming State Coordinator
Ron Paul 2008 Presidential Campaign Committee
