I was making a long distance trip from DC to Richmond, and was (unfortunately) listening to the Mark Levin show on AM radio 630. Despite the fact that he's another establishment neoconservative, his message reaches out to literally millions of people around the country and has a strongly devoted fanbase.

We need a strong Liberty-minded talk radio host (Mike Church, perhaps?) on a mainstream radio station. I know Church does a great job, but his listenership is probably infinitesimal compared to Levin because so few people have Satellite Radio.

Having a strong Liberty voice on a traditional radio station would do wonders to a RP run in 2012 and for Liberty candidates all over the nation.

I don't like Mark Levin mainly because of his whiney voice.

Even if I agreed with everything he said I'd have a hard time listening to his show.

im surprised there hasn't been a "teaparty radio" show thrown on the air to capitalize on the hype. radio stations will pretty much air anything popular or trendy. i figured satellite radio would have jumped on this- has anyone heard of this happening?

They're more voluntaryist than constitutionalist, but they give major props to good candidates like Ron Paul and John Dennis -- both of whom have been on the show. Very pro-liberty.

79 Affiliates nationwide, including many major AM stations.

I'll second Jason Lewis, but I think the guy most of us want to get national exposure is Jack Hunter

I really like Jack too, but I can probably count the number of times I've disagreed with Mr. Lewis on 1hand and he is already nationally syndicated (including KY), although he definitely needs to be on more stations. I don't think a week has gone by in quite a while where he hasn't mentioned Dr. Paul in a positive manner at least once.

Hell, I'd enjoy a Lewis, Hunter, Church midday lineup instead of limbaugh, hannity, levin.

Charles Goyette would be ideal if a station out there would accept him. Walter Williams is a good choice too, if he's not too busy teaching and such.

I have proposed starting a "Liberty Broadcasting Network" in other threads. Together we could start liberty radio, TV, Internet and newsprint/magazine that would spread the message around the world.

I'd listen to just the hum of my a/c before I'd spend time listening to that prick.

The first step would be to incorporate, and I'm not sure that we can get enough liberty people together to do that. ;)

Incorporating is not the problem. I can set up a business in 30 minutes. How do I get on the radio. What equipment do I need? How do I get a channel? Who do I register with to get a channel etc etc.

Maybe you could talk to these folks, as a starting point. They might be willing to accommodate extra programming you'd like to see.

I don't know if it's what you're looking for exactly -- again, the current programming seems to be more principled libertarian than constitutionalist, but I thought I'd throw it out there.

At least, they might be able to offer advice.

Radio is dying.

I think TV is dying as a medium, but not so much radio. Radio is great for commuting, or listening to while working. It doesn't require as much attention, therefore makes great background noise while doing other tasks.

If you go low enough power you can do it without getting a license -- I believe it's 0.1 W for AM, but I'm not 100% sure.

Oh... Nevermind, folks don't want to put real libertarians on the air, just conservatives.

Thumbs up to free talk live...
Thumbs down to Jack Hunter...

Love Jason Lewis.

Just for example, here are the topics from last nights show:

Jason Lewis Show 06/11/10-1st Hour
The Civil Rights conversation comes up again with a story in our local paper. Lawyers want to ban Ladies Night based on discrimination. What's going on here?

2nd Hour
The latest news out of Mexico and the drug violence can only be described as grizzly. That leads to a discussion about the drug war and the war on terror. Two 'wars' that Jason says cannot be won.

3rd Hour
Jason continues the conversation about drug legalization.

Thanks for this, much obliged.

I do not pay for TV or radio, and, so far, I don't have Internet radio in my truck, so it is rather rare for me to get to listen to liberty radio.
What I continue to call for will take several investors, a great business plan and top management in order to compete with the propaganda perpetuated by the mainstream. My hope is a "Liberty Broadcasting Network" of movies, TV, radio, Internet, newsprint and a magazine all through the guidance of an institution such as The Mises Institute.
