The Alabama GOP must be stunned.

Another one to tack up.

Small amounts of votes, but RP members show up. Because RP supporters will show up on Primary day, RP should pull really good numbers.

the local GOP's would'nt be raising much money? Would they rather fade away into oblivion like the whigs or reinvigorate? Pick any of those dullards and its over.

I was there. It was great. We had a big rally afterward. A lot of people had camcorders so I would not be surprised if there was a YouTube video soon.

One of the speakers was trying to tell people why to vote for Thompson. He said that he actually thought Hunter was the best but that he was voting for Thompson because he thought that he had the best chance to win.

Another guy spoke for Romney. His point was basically that since Romney got elected in Mass that he was the best candidate because he could get the liberal vote.

I thought that was a pretty good sampling of establishment thinking.

I was at the poll as well. Rev. Killian gave another amazing speech. A friend is gonna try to have up some video from the event in just a few hours. I'll post a link here soon as it's up.

Ron Paul Wins AL Straw Poll By Landslide, Again!

For some reason, news of landslide victories for Ron Paul doesn’t get old for me. This time, I’ve had the privilege of observing the action in person. Today’s straw poll is being held in Jefferson County, Alabama! The results are as follows:

Ron Paul - 115 (58%)
Fred Thompson - 31 (16%)
Rudy Giuliani - 18 (9%)
Mitt Romney - 16 (8%)
Mike Huckabee - 8 (4%)
Duncan Hunter - 5 (3%)
John McCain - 3 (2%)
Cort - 1 (1%)
Sam Brownback - 1 (1%)
Undecided - 1 (1%)

Was he SERIOUS?!?!

That is the most deluded example of baseless wishful thinking I've ever heard. And THAT is why the neocons are losing, because they're still stuck in the naive belief that intelligent voters will not see through media abstractions like "charisma" and "presidential appearance" in favor of genuine candidates with real answers to the issues.

A northeastern pedigree does not a liberal make! Heck, even Bush is from Kennebunkport!

Yea I was the loser that could not stand still let alone sit down!

Glad you are on here. Alabama has a really really high number of forumers relative to population.

Alot of you guys reading this probably thought we still dont wear shoes let alone have internet!

I just watched the YouTube video at http://ronpaulbirmingham.com/pages/videos and I must say that anyone who plans to paint a town Paul should watch it. When there is about a minute left in the video Steve the Sign Guy reveals a great trick for hanging telephone signs without a ladder.

I was the guy in the blue Dunder Mifflin shirt, one of the guys that was helping Jessica haul stuff around.

Sorry we didn't get to go sign waving together. I wanted to hold that 4x8beauty so badly.

I didn't follow very close in 2003-04 but did the media flat out ignore the straw polls in back then or is it just now they choose to ignore massive Ron Paul support.

a very large portion of these straw polls are "first time polls" or recently started.

The Birmingham News reported on the event though. 175,000 papers printed tomorrow with about 350k in readers.

Woot! I was there. I was the guy toting around the big white video camera. Man these guys were quick getting their videos up. I guess they must live there in Birmingham or close. I'll put mine together tomorrow. I have video of the Giuliani public appearance in Mobile the night before with him refusing to answer a simple question then... the laugh... you know the one, as heard during a Ron Paul response on the FOX news debate? yeah that one. Then our attempt to march in front of the house where his private $1000 per person fund raiser was being held, and to be followed by a private dinner for people donating $2300. See what happens tomorrow night.

It was a fun day. I'll admit, I didn't vote but I was there. We had this one in the bag for sure.

Look for a fairly comprehensive piece tomorrow in the Birmingham News. (at least I suspect coverage) www.al.com/birminghamnews

Here is the article. Has some very nice quotes, and I think you'll like the conclusion of the story.
