Gallup's generic polling (http://www.gallup.com/poll/127439/Election-2010-Key-Indicators.aspx) shows the number of voters saying that they would vote for Republicans rising three points from last week, while the number saying they will vote for Democrats dropped four points. The 49%-43% lead for the Republicans is the largest that the pollster has ever recorded for the party. Moreover, Democratic enthusiasm for voting this fall fell a point, while enthusiasm among Republicans stayed about fifteen points higher. This indicates an even wider lead for Republicans once Gallup imposes a likely voter screen this fall.

This is good and bad. Good in that it will take a massive GOP landslide to sweep libertarian candidates like Rand Paul in to Congress but bad because the GOP could take back congress. When everything falls apart the Democrats need to be left holding the bag. If the GOP wins there is a decent chance that they could end up getting blamed which translates into the free market getting blamed. If the Dems get all the blame that will translate into Big government getting blamed and that would be a good thing.

My hope is that the GOP picks up 30 seats or so in the house and 6-7 in the Senate and somehow Rand Paul and Peter Schiff win. That way when things come unglued it will set up an epic 2012 for (hopefully) liberty oriented candidates.

Well we run the risk of what happened in the previous decade of the GOP gaining control. We keep swinging from bad Democrats to bad Republicans, and then back to bad Democrats... the pendulum needs to stop.
