Joe Meadors, USS Liberty survivor and member of Gaza flotilla, gives his account of the story in the following video:
"It was an illegal attack; we were on the high seas. They admitted they closed the area for military purposes. We tried to find out the boundaries of that area, and the Israelis wouldn't tell us. So regardless of where we were at, we were in their "territorial waters" so to speak." They violated that law.
commentator: "Was that the case back in 1967 when you were on the USS Liberty.. that they broke the law?"
"They broke a number of international laws back in 1967. (1) they used unmarked aircraft. (2) they jammed our radios on U.S. Navy tactical and international maritime distress frequencies. (3) they machine-gunned life-rafts in the water. (4) they refused to operate immediately upon cessation of {sorry i couldn't make out what he said on this one}."
commentator: "When you consider what happened to you this past weekend as well as 40 years ago, is there anything you want the public at large, american and worldwide, to know about the Israelis?"
"They always say they do no wrong. Every time the Israelis speak, they say they don't break any laws. They always say they abide by international laws, but they break them with impunity and the U.S. Government is not going to hold them accountable. Nobody is."
