I watched it on C-SPAN tonight.

This was one of Ron Paul's best public appearances. It's amazing to watch history in the making. Unlike the prepackaged pap fed to us by the mainstream, the war propaganda, as RP kept referring to it as, this appearance felt so authentic and so honest and productive! It was awesome to hear some of Ron's thoughts on the specifics of how long we'd have our debt paid off in, etc.

Also, did anyone catch the pot joke? It was just after RP finished speaking, and the guy comes to the mic to announce that RP will take questions, and then he mentions that there are drinks on the side and "a couple of bowls down there so why don't you pass them around," and the room laughed.

It's in 3 pieces on youtube:

This was one of the most amazing RP appearances to date. History is being made with this campaign.

Actually that was CSPAN's Washington Journal that I youtubed.

I'm still trying to find the Taft vid somewhere.

By the way, I am uploading the NewsHour with Jim Lehrer (PBS) video from today to youtube in its entirety, I saw someone got part of it, but I am going to upload all of it in 2 parts.

Yes, I know that :)

NewsHour with Jim Lehrer is the name of the show. My fat finger typed Keher apparently, sorry about that.

Yep, I realise that.

I think we just had a bidirectional misunderstanding LOL

There is a joke in there somewhere, but I'm not going there :)

BTW, I posted the 2 NewsHour with Jim Lehrer videos in another thread.

I think that the "bowl" was the donation bowl for the Robert A. Taft club. The reason the audience laughed, if I am not mistaken, is because the person equated it to a donation plate at church.

I have the video and am in the process of capturing it to the computer.

I will try to figure out how to upload it once it's done.

I'm new to this video capture stuff.

Enjoy.

I think your answer is more plausible than mine. The reason I assumed it was a pot joke is because just about a minute before this joke, Ron Paul was passionately expressing the importance of personal liberty, and at one point said, to paraphrase, "I don't want to tell you what you can drink or smoke." So it seemed to follow from that... Either way, not a big deal.

That is correct, at least by my understanding at the scene.

Ugh... either the sound and video sync is off once it was uploaded

or

when Ron speaks about liberty his voice travels somewhere between the speed of light and the speed of sound, due to his conviction. :-)

Uploading part 2 now. Maybe it will turn out better.

be sure to send a full audio rip ot the ronpaulaudio.com folks - I strongly prefer to listen to the audio uncut instead of annoying 10 minute clips on craptube.

Don't know why that happens... the source video that I uploaded is perfect.

I guess the youtube conversion does something.

Wonder if there's a way I can correct it? Anyone know?

After 3 videos this is his greatest speech ever I think.

I loved it when he said,

"The message is not delivered by the greatest orator, but is the greatest message ever".

It's a shame that the video has some problems with syncing, but the audio alone is well worth the time.

He is jovial, telling interesting stories and sharp as a tack in delivering his most powerful messages. Anyone who watches a speech like this would have to be impressed by Ron.

It could be that certain types of compression are not correctly converted when youtube converts your video to flv. try changing the type of compression you use.

the best way to deal with these audio/video sync problems on youtube is to convert the file to the .flv format and then upload it. (youtube normally does this on their server if you upload an .avi or .meg but often has problems with it)

this software seems ok : http://www.download.com/Riva-FLV-Encoder/3000-2140-10320097.html?part=dl-RivaFLVEn&subj=dl&tag=button

The re-upload of part 3 and part 4 are now up and seem to be ok as far as video sync goes...

Here they are:

Part 3:
http://youtube.com/watch?v=6f2y39aXdMc

Part 4:
http://youtube.com/watch?v=kjhNRz9z4eU

That ends the speech part... parts 5,6,7 are the questions...

Gonna upload them now.

I've found that .wmv files convert well without the syncing problems.

Absolutely fantastic speech. :D No wonder RP only gets 5mins out of 2 hours in a debate. If they let him speak any longer he would be unstoppable! :D

Ok parts 5 and 6 are available and part 7 will be there soon.

The full list of links to the youtube videos are, in sequence:

2: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y6hIlAR1UY8

6: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BLpYpmwd66g
7: http://youtube.com/watch?v=ElpGH7OJnpg

I apologize for the video/audio sync issues. I've tried a bunch of things to help with it, but nothing seems to work.

I'm sending a complete audio (mp3) copy of the speech itself to goldenequity to be posted on ronpaulaudio.com as well. So look for that soon for those that can't stand youtube and/or the sync issues.

Enjoy.
