"FRANKFORT, Ky. -- The Kentucky Senate, reacting to a divisive comment by Republican Rand Paul, has adopted a resolution declaring any form of discrimination to be inconsistent with American values.

Louisville Democratic Sen. Gerald Neal introduced the resolution Friday during a special session on the state budget. It was adopted without objection in the predominantly Republican chamber.

Neal, Kentucky's only black state senator, said he took personal offense at the comment made last week by Paul, a U.S. Senate candidate, who was criticizing the 1964 Civil Rights Act.

Paul said in an MSNBC interview that the federal government shouldn't have the power to force restaurants to serve minorities if business owners don't want to.

Neal said Paul's "extreme belief" has made Kentucky "a laughingstock." " (http://www.kentucky.com/2010/05/28/1284255/ky-senate-adopts-civil-rights.html)

Is it inconsistent with American values for a young lady in Kentucky to say no to someone she does not want to date?

Is it inconsistent with American values for Universities in Kentucky to favor minorities for student enrollment?

Is it inconsistent with American values to eat lunch whereever you choose in Kentucky?

Have they lost their minds in KY:confused:

I shall add one more.

Is it inconsistent to choose what property you buy and where you live? Most Americans do discriminate heavily, just against culture, not race.

No, the just don't want to lose their jobs over a left-leaning race-baiting media.

This was passed in a special session with no input from "voters." Elected officials doing what's "best" for the voters, of course. *rolls eyes*

What about price discrimination? Isn't it economic discrimination to deny someone goods or services if they don't have the money to match the price you offer? Heck, not serving others or giving them your shit for free is economic discrimination and un-american. The Free Market is un-American

Thus guy Gerald Neal clearly didn't understand what Rand was saying. I do think Rand could have clarified but that's done and done.

How long are they going to take one out of context statement and run with it? How about we judge someone by their body of work? Rand said he would have marched with MLK.

He also said he abhors racism and discrimination. But somehow that means he loves it.

I really don't care if someone wants to say Rand is a racist. They are exercising freedom of speech (and stupidity.) State officals making a proclamation that all discrimination is unamerican is unbelievable. Discriminication is liberty to choose; one of our individual rights expressed in the constitution.
