Gingrich led the way in California with 28% on our poll to 25% for Mitt Romney, 18% for Sarah Palin, 13% for Mike Huckabee, and 10% for Ron Paul.

http://publicpolicypolling.blogspot.com/2010/05/gingrich-looking-serious.html

This is the highest Ron Paul has pulled in a state poll, if my memory is correct.

And remember, when independents and democrats break his way, Ron Paul would get several extra percentage points.

Gingrich, Romney, and Huckabee are total establishment. Palin too, but it's just not as apparent to the average conservative.

Open primaries are somewhat okay, as long as it isn't the top-two system like Washington has. Unfortunately, California wants to adopt the top two open system that would shut out all third parties.

Ugh I hate top two, it means I cannot even vote in the general election.

Can you imagine Rand butting heads with Newt? That would be priceless. Ron and Rand now seem to have this synergy going. They are both building each other up in ways that they could not do alone. This is so cool.

This is actually a solid launching pad for Ron Paul. If we can begin the 2012 race with him in double digit percentages, we're in a great shape because the MSM really can't ignore someone polling double digits in a 5 or 6-way race.

What really has my head scratching is his 8% number from Kentucky. Doesn't Rand's popularity in the state help at all?

Gingrich’s political group, 'American Solutions for Winning the Future' has a major fund-raising advantage over the others, because – as a so-called 527 group – it can accept unlimited contributions from people and corporations.

Does this mean the Fed can continue to give as much as is needed to maintain control?

Can we get some liberty 527s going that people (and corporations? ... maybe BB&T and Whole Foods... they are run by libertarians Mackey and Allison...) can donate to?

NH is very liberal. Only in the west (where I am) do you start to see real conservatives. Ron Paul did very well in my part of the state (around 20%) but once you get near the cities, East of Concord and the southern part of the state, it turns into a liberal love fest.

Who the hell likes Gingrich?

I think Gingrich sitting on a love sofa with Nancy Pelosi in a PSA talking about global warming will piss more supporters off than Ron Paul's antiwar stance. I don't find Gingrich that much of a threat to be honest once the debates start up. Romney and Palin will be the biggest threats to Ron Paul in 2012.
