That's what he said in his last vlog on YouTube. I know he is accounting for some fallout but this seems like a monumental task to me, let alone all those people need to be registered republicans? I wish I lived in CT and could set up a table or door to door or something because this seems insane. Does anyone know how probable it is to do this? I like his enthusiasm but DAMN! That's a lotta people!

Yep, I think 15,000 is the standard amount needed.

If that's so, it seems that Schiff will need the signatures of at least 3/10ths of the estimated 50,000 registered Republicans in CT.

No, not exactly.

He needs 8500 valid signatures. That's the number.

BUT, a lot of signatures will be thrown out for various legal reasons, so he wants to get 15000 to be on the safe side.

There's 500,000 registered Republicans, not 50,000. That's only 3% of all Republicans in CT. Peter had 9% in the last poll, and probably has about 20% now. There's more than enough people to sign his petitions. It's just a matter of getting boots on the ground to collect them.

He probably already has several thousand signatures right now. So, even if he were to have just begun getting signatures today, he would have two weeks to get 15000 signatures. That's 1071 signatures a day. If just 10 volunteers stand outside busy areas like universities, shopping centers, etc. and they each manage to get 100 signatures per day, they'll make the goal. And in reality, I'm guessing Peter probably has 50-100 volunteers actively getting signatures, so each of them just needs to get ten or twenty signatures a day from now until June 8 (assuming he had just started getting signatures today), and he's in the clear.

It's a cinch.

It is wise for him to get way more than he needs as they will pull any shenanigans they can to keep him out......

There will be lots of vanilla Republicans that will sign it just because they want more choices too.
