I'm in TN and my family brought up the Rand Paul stuff

My grandparents are moderate conservative (pro-choice but fiscal conservative) and brought up Rand (not knowing that I was a Rand fan).

They both thought that Rand had been taken out of context and that it was a bunch of liberal b.s.

My dad, an independent, thinks that Rand made a mistake going on Maddow but doesn't think he's a racist and doesn't think it will impact most people on the election

As for BP, they ALL think that the media is stretching to brand Rand as pro-BP

in other words, the smear didn't work on moderate conservatives and independents in my family

My family don't follow politics. They vote Rs because they are bro bussiness. When I told them about the controversy they were like thats nice but we don't care. Mom is an IRS agent and dad is an electrician.

That's good to hear.

My roommate thought the BP comment was terrible (I had to explain to him that BP would be sued out of existence in a libertarian society). But he's kind of an apolitical guy, not representative of the conservative, pro-coal Kentucky.

My dad, a center-Right, thinks the same thing. but he's biased cause he knows I'm kinda obsessed with "Paul" (ron and rand :)).

Honestly any person, who doesn't follow the liberty movement, would think that Rand was defending BP. Accidents happen? COME ON!

Am I the only one questioning why nobody is blaming Transocean for this problem?

I don't even know who finds BP part a controvercy. He did not say anything I would not say.

I kinda could care less for the socialists who find him offensive. Independents don't lean towards bussiness hating as much as democrats would like.

My internet-savvy 85-y/o grandma watched the Maddow Show kerfuffle on YouTube and said she was extremely impressed with Rand's answers, and how he wouldn't let her paint him into a corner.

[QUOTE=silverhandorder;2714567]I don't even know who finds BP part a controvercy. He did not say anything I would not say.

The press is saying all over that he thought BP should not be held accountable which is NOTHING like what he said.

Journalism is dead....
