View Full Version : Trey was advised about "Ron Paul movement" over a year ago

A good friend of mine spoke to Trey on the phone for an hour in February of 2009. This person was a conservative and was slowly starting to hear about Ron Paul and the message of liberty and Constitutionalism.

Trey mentioned he was considering a run for US Senate, and this person said to him "well you might want to be aware that there is a lot of passion and energy with the Ron Paul crowd. Before you run you might want to be aware of that or at least take it into consideration because they are a very active bunch" :D:D:D

At this point it is fair to say that Trey was fully aware about the existence of the Ron Paul Republicans but ignored it at his own peril.

Why do you persist in posting this anti-Trey stuff? We won. It's over.

Grayson for Governor!

I think Bill Johnson would make a better Governor.

I'm not a fan of either but, I'm not as mad with Grayson since he has shown to be pretty good dude after the results tuesday.

Rand would be in a much better position if Grayson had either dropped out, or at least ran an honest campaign. Grayson did some long term damage to Rand and should be admonished for it. Rand would have a ton more money for starters...

Actually Trey got a lot of crap out there early and only made Rand stronger. COnway can't use those ploys.

I know you are protective of Rand (as I am) but, the fact Trey is now backing us.... time to lay off and realize he was trying to win like we were. Hell, we tied him at LF to Van freakin' Jones.

Yeah and if Bill Johnson did secure the Republican nomination for the Senate then it would be another victory for the Tea Party.

Um. No. This is who Bill Johnson is politically aligned with:

Yeah thats a good point. But out of the candidates hinting at running so far he is the best choice.

He always seemed like a good dude. He seemed much more likable than Paul. He just didn't have a political philosophy.

Likable guys usually are the worst politicians. I prefer a-holes like this guy:

exactly. this is how you act like good party members and good Republicans. this is how you gain the respect of the Party. if you want to keep operating within the republican party, as Ron and Rand do, then they really need their supporters (us) to get in line and act like good Republicans ought to act. we got what we wanted, now lets play nice!

As much as Grayson's campaign was dishonorable, the truth is that the reason Rand now has the "respect" of the party and national attention is not simply that he won, it's that he decimated an aggressive, big-money, dirty, establishment-backed campaign against him by 59-34.

THAT, and not the fact that Rand simply "won," is why he is the powerful figure holding all the cards today.

So you don't have to like Trey Grayson, but be glad he did what he did.

And yeah, we all need to learn to play politics a little bit. It's easy to roast everybody when you're on the outside. We're on the inside now. You don't have to lie about how you feel about some of these people in the party, but you can try to avoid talking about them.

These people are getting behind Rand now because all they care about is politics and power, and it is now in their political interest to get behind Rand. Don't go after the people that are supporting you, they're not asking you or Rand to campaign for them, all they're asking is for the privilege of standing next to you and not being attacked. Since we benefit from that, let it be.

Most importantly, it's important to emphasize that we have not won the election yet, are still in campaign mode. Bottom line guys: we won the campaign to represent the Republican Party in November. These people you don't like, they ARE the Republican Party right now, and if WE want to be part of a party that has people we don't like in it, we need to at least be tolerant of them. Don't make the mistake of thinking we are so powerful that we can clean house in a major political party when we haven't even won a general election yet. Win the election, help Rand become a LEADER in the party, and the country will follow him.

tl,dr: Notice that people like Jim DeMint are changing the direction and leadership of the party, and yet you don't see Jim DeMint doing it by attacking Mitch McConnell. That is not how politics is done. It's just not.

Honestly, if I lived in Kentucky, I'd vote for Grayson over Johnson for Governor.

And don't bring up Gurley. What a pitiful showing:

About Kentucky Governor.....

I liked Trey Grayson before this race. After what I have seen during the primary, I will never ever, ever cast another vote for Trey Grayson as long as I live.

At this point in time, Bill Johnson has my support and I am willing to listen to Richie Farmer. I am really looking for a Rand Paul/Ron Paul type of candidate to emerge.

Gatewood Galbraith would not be a candidate I would support after I found out that he has some ideas that could be classified as socialist to say the least. Gatewood is just a Democrat that supports Marijuana legalization, not a libertarian.
