YouTube - Rep Alan Grayson Introduces the War Is Making You Poor Act (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t0_TtYQEDTo)

All you have to do is send as many letters to your congressman as you can telling him you want him to support HR 5353 the "War Is Making You Poor Act". That's how you "sign up" for the tax free money!

And it reduces the federal debt too!!!

Already on board: Ron Paul, Walter Jones, John Conyers, Lynn Woolsey, and Dennis Kucinich.

Takes the 150ish billion Obama has asked for additionally and has been appropriated for wars and instead uses that for tax free income up to $35000 for everyone and 15 billion to the deficit.

hmm. I already receive more in taxes than I put in [I think] I'm not certain, but I feel I definitely did after I took advantage of several tax credits.

I already posted this: http://www.ronpaulforums.com/showthread.php?t=246018

Also, it's not getting a check for $35,000... It just makes the FIRST $35,000 you make tax deductible (if I'm correct) if you are single. For married couples, the first $70,000 you make will be tax deductible.

So if you're single and make say $50,000 a year, you'd only be paying taxes on $15,000 of it.

I think the whole point of this bill is to get people to wake up to what it costs each person for the Iraq war.

What a way to do it! Everyone wants "free" money!

I think the point would be more effective if he said it takes the 150 billion and gives $500 to every man, woman and child.

Yes, yes I do want $35,000 tax free. Thank you.No problem, do what you can to make sure this passes. Write and call your congressman.

And don't forget, if this doesn't pass, you are going to have to pay $35,000 to cover the war costs.

Great plan. We should be getting back as much as we can from these thieves.

Oops, I'm so indoctrinated. I meant I won't have my money stolen from these thieves. I think it will end up as an one year tax credit, which taxpayers will be liable for over the next decade or something like that. It's almost too good to be true.

I'd prefer to have all the money I make tax-free, but this is just as good.

I agree, but this may just wake some people up to what a billion means against their hard earned money.

Exacatly, the last emergency war appropriation bill was a complete rape of the American people. It passed with silience.

The best answer is for every member of congress to vote against the emergency war appropriation bill. That doesn't look likely. HR 5353 is grandstanding in a good way. It say "Wake up America, your government is ripping you off!"

Way to go Alan Grayson! Sometimes this guy is spot on and sometimes he's a douche. This is one of his spot on times.

a facinating idea! "LIVE LONG AND PROSPER" ...as STAR TREK's Mr. Spock would say!

He should propose giving the same tax incentives to Americans working in the US as is given to Americans working in Iraq and Afghanistan.

No income tax on the first ~$90k (up to the social security cut off) per person.

It might highlight the amount of money going to the military industrial complex.

this is actually pretty brilliant political move too. Neocons will have a hard time with this one. More war or less taxes. Their heads will probably explode trying to decide.

They'll choose more war every time and they won't consider it a hard decision. That's what makes them neocons.

Luckily we are voting them out, but I hope people don't get complacent again.

I don't really pay income tax anyway. It's good being of the 50% that doesn't

guys, this is an anti-imperialism bill.

don't focus on the personal finance aspects of it. it won't pass, but if we can get our friends some more cosponsors it may send some message. if our Congressional Reps begin to get the anti-war message from their constituents it may even lead to a more fertile landscape for the next anti-imperialism presidential candidate.

and we should all heartily support Mr. Grayson's bill. i'll ask my Congressman to cosponsor though the chances are probably nil he would (he has neocon tendencies).

Grayson and Kucinich are two of our best allies on many important issues.

btw, you should watch the Grayson Red Roof Inn video if you haven't
