Anyway, this former case officer is talking about his time overseas when he was working with an FBI agent, as they were the lead agency on 9/11 - it being a criminal investigation. Anyway, they come by a Taliban embasy that is very active which they find odd, as the Taliban government had collapsed previously. They decide to rob the embasy and do so in the middle of the night - hauling off 2 vans full of files, computers and so on.

About 4 days later they find paydirt! A phone log of calls to locations all over the US. There was a lot of call traffic that suddenly stopped on September 10th, 2001 and slowly started to pick up again on September 13th...

FBI HQ told them to pouch the original list to them, which was done. Latter followup inquiries over the years since have revealed what the FBI did with that information. ABSOLUTELY NOTHING! Not so much as a reverse lookup. The file now lives in a box on a shelf in a FBI storrage facility.

I realize they are vey busy violating Americans civil rights and abusing the patriot act to investigate everything else except terrorism, but you would think they could spare one person - maybe even a janator or an intern to track down that info and get additional call records and stuff...

Read the book in my signature line below....and you'll see why the FBI made so many "blunders"
