Stalwarts Club Endorses Rand Paul

Manassas, Virginia (May 14, 2010) -- The Stalwarts Club today announced it is endorsing Rand Paul in his primary campaign to secure the Republican nomination for the United States Senate in Kentucky. “Rand Paul is committed to fighting for a constitutionally limited government against the Democrats and the get-along go-along Big-Government Republicans in the Senate,” said Richard Viguerie, one of the founding members of the Stalwarts Club. “We will do all we can to help him win his primary race against Trey Grayson, Mitch McConnell’s hand-picked establishment candidate, and then against the Democratic nominee in the general election this November.”

The Stalwart Club is comprised of the undersigned conservatives who are dedicated to opposing RINOs and Republican-establishment candidates in the 2010 primaries. Members of this club are stalwart in their defense of the constitutional principles of limited government, and include some of the recognized leaders of the past, as well as some emerging leaders for the future.

But Viguerie and Bozell are certainly endorsements worth having.

Never heard of the Stalwarts Club, but the top names are terrific.

Might almost be better as separate endorsements....

Matt, Richard A. Viguerie is paleoconservative activist and strategist and was pro-Ron Paul although they aren't PERFECTLY eye to eye on foreign policy etc. They are eye to eye on having a government that works for the people, the way it is supposed to, under the Constitution. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Richard_Viguerie

Matt just screamed "I am a movement Libertarian"-- at the top of his lungs, but I like him anyway ;)

I don't really consume much media, especially news media. And I am not a "Libertarian" ;-)

Richard Viguerie interview with Reason's Brian Doherty. He's a smart guy.

from personal experience, Richard Viguerie can only be trusted as far as you can throw him.
i can't remember the specifics, but i do remember quite clearly that he backstabbed our efforts in Louisiana in 2008.
From what he did then, in my mind, fits in the same category as Dondero.

Actually, I remember that his support only goes so far as well, however, it is a good endorsement. Just don't make him a key cog in any machine. He isn't dondero, dondero is pathological in his hatred of Ron.

I still clear of Richard Viguerie as he was the "UltimateRonPaul.com" guy who created the website to harvest email addresses. I think there is a big history of us discussing him on this forum.

Brent Bozell runs the Media Research Center. I don't always agree with what they put out, but I think they're a net-positive for conservatives (Notice I didn't use Libertarians).

The reason we think Viguerie is cointel-like is because he used to be heavily involved with our state libertarian party. he pretended to be apart of the group, basically just to sabotage shit.
He left a lot of our LPers going wtf?

Hm.

I can't find anything on the net about the incidents, but this will show you how he has been "working" with LPers: http://wesbenedictforlnc.blogspot.com/2008/05/my-richard-viguerie-confession.html
