What do y'all think of lobbying "The View" to have Dr. Paul on as a guest?

I think, as an OB/GYN, he would be well received (plus, his gentle manner is the perfect antidote to the apparent shrillness of Hasselbeck).

I am thinking an e-mail campaign to the producers and hosts of the show might do the trick...same e-mail from everyone WITH NAMES (no anonymous stuff).

I think it would be great if Dr. Paul was on The View. It would probably convince my mother to vote for him. (She hates republicans)

NO!!!

After what Whoopi Goldberg, egged on by Barbara Walters, said to Nancy Pelosi and her husband last week, those women have shown that they are the lowest, most disrespectful women on television. We should not expect Ron Paul to have to deal with people like that who have no respect for their elected officials whatsoever. Granted Nancy Pelosi put up with it which wasn't at all right of her to tolerate in my opinion, but we don't want Ron Paul in that sort of situation. Being an ObGyn I can imagine they might make some really crude and distasteful remarks.

I'm not so sure.

I can see Dr. Paul rising above the muck and actually turning the tables on such crudeness...that appears to be his M.O., at least.

Any mainstream exposure is good. If Ron can handle himself well against Hannity and O'Reilly, he can certainly handle The View.

I think it's wasted energy. We've already got them and if they want Paul they will invite him. We should expend our efforts on those people who are not yet convinced.

I remember reading a post that said campaign HQ already got a request from the View.

Screw the moral stances of the hosts. A guest spot on The View would be great press. Plus, Dr. Paul would get to lay the smackdown on the neo-con Hasselbeck.

The only way to rise above that situation is to walk off the air immediately. I just don't know if we want to risk putting him in that situation. And I think going on the show after that debacle would be tantamount to condoning their behavior. It was totally unacceptable in my opinion. Both women should have been fired. I'm not a big fan of Pelosi but there are certain lines that one should never cross with anyone, publicly or privately, and they did it very publicly with one of the highest officials in the land.

I don't know that it's a waste of energy...all it would take would be a C&P from this board into an e-mail, and then a couple of more clicks.

I'll compose the e-mail and post it here if you guys are interested in doing this.

Late night shows would be great too. Ron Paul would kill if he did Conan.

This would be great exposure of Ron Paul to a demographic that our grassroots campaigning sucks at reaching, to put it plainly.

By the way, myself and several other Ron Paul supporters chipped in and are sending flowers to Joy Behar before she goes on Bill Maher's show this Friday. She has mentioned RP several times and we are hoping we can get her to mention him again on Friday night and Monday morning.

I guess it's a moot point, then.

I am interested to know what the decision is on the invitation; seems to me that this is a good chance to counter the "women shouldn't vote" pablum with honest-to-goodness positive energy.

Then by all means come up with a better way of reaching this demographic, Nefertiti, because I haven't seen one yet. All I know is that we are absolutly not reaching them right now.

Exactly!

Even though he is pro-life, Dr. Paul does not threaten a "woman's right to choose"...rather, he actually enhances that right to choose...the right to choose which state to live in. :)

This mainstream network exposure is EXACTLY what the good Dr. needs - so what if he doesn't agree with the host on every issue? Ron's a big boy, he can handle himself. :D

Dr. Paul is shooting down offers to appear on shows all the time. Don't flood the View's email boxes with mail if RP isn't going to do it.

The view is a waste, but unfortunately people watch it. I think it would get his word out to a lot of people who don't normally follow politics. Plus this wouldn't be a 5 minute interview like O'Riley, he could actually explain his views, and give history lessons to those that need it.

I wonder why? Media attention is the thing he needs most. The more attention he gets the more his poll number will start to rise.

How in the world does being a "public official" automatically entitle you to respect? If anything I would think it should do the exact opposite. I can't think of many, besides RP, that shouldn't be tarred-and-feathered as soon as they dared to step outside their guarded fortresses.

What did they say to Pelosi?

I hope they put her in her place.... she is a socialist who caters to big business and doesn't care much for american citizens.

I think it would help my mother's conversion process. I wanted to drop my jaw when she said she doesnt care for Hillary.

More exposure is great, too.

I don't know if The View does it for Dr. Paul, but he needs to get on some late night, basic cable type show... I'll say David Letterman would be the best bet.

Also I would campaign the idea that we should propose or ask the HQ about needing help from us to get RP on shows, radio, tv etc. It would be the best for us and RP, so we don't look like fools pushing for him and RP declining invitations.

Then you are judging her based on her political views, not as a person. To make such a remark had absolutely nothing to do with her politics and everything to do with her personally. Whether you agree with someone or not, you should still treat them with respect. I also believe even if you don't agree with the office holder, the office they hold deserves respect. Think how this denigrates the office in the eyes of the world. People in Timbuktu know nothing about Nancy Pelosi, but if they heard our television presenters treated one of our highest officials in this manner, they would think very badly of Americans. Think about how Americans ridiculed Ahmedinjad for saying there were no gays in Iran, it would give people abroad the same impression about our country.

What's the best way to do that? the "Contact Me" link at the freemansburden blog?

Let's get organized and do this.
