An increase in Kansas' sales tax cleared the Legislature early Tuesday morning, a change that will force consumers to pay more for groceries and other items to protect public schools and government services from cuts.

Gotta keep them social programs and, remember, no tax is a good tax, but a penny is a small price to pay for a state as great as ours! So says the good gov.

Did any of the employed state workers take cuts in pay/salary, perks, and pensions? When did the state last send out pay/pension/perk increases? Betcha they had increases in the past year.

Not only does Kansas levy its sales tax on clothing, appliances, computers, cars and other items, it is one of 15 states to impose such a tax on groceries.
Wasn't it Ben Franklin that stated, "You never tax a person's; FOOD, DRINK, nor CLOTHING."?

Looks like Kansas is becoming as liberal as many other democratic majority states...
