Yup, as sad as it is, they hide the truth in the outrage.

Nope, it's not, cause the book can't be copyrighted by the Publishing company considering it's public domain! :)

Yes, back then they actually had values, standards, morals etc. Look at men like Washington and Jefferson - giants compared to the people that run today's governments.

If the Constitution were written today, it would resemble the European Union constitution - rights are granted by government, God? What's God?, a benevolent government must take care of everyone by controlling them, ends justify the means etc.

And let us reflect on those values:

Thou shall enslave other men and Congress shall be prohibited from discussion of the matter until 1808.

Welcome to the 21st century. I expect this to become a mandatory government label for all political and legal documents written in prior times. Either that or book burnings.

A better one would have been a transcription of Jefferson's reasoning behind his insistence on the amendment process--"We might as well require a man to wear still the coat which fitted him when a boy, as civilized society to remain ever under the regimen of their barbarous ancestors." --Thomas Jefferson to Samuel Kercheval, 1816. This would not only help them understand that concept but help them understand the Constitution at the same time. That way we could teach kids history instead of spending all our time apologizing for it. But then, the Cato Institute is Statotarian, so I wouldn't expect them to want to do that thing right.

This label is a product of its time and does not reflect the same values as it would if it were written by the Founding Fathers under the original Constitution over two centuries ago. Parents might wish to discuss with their children how relativism, hedonism, socialism/communism, humanism, and neoism have changed today's minds on the nature of civics by the absolute rule of law and objective morality before reading labels which undermine those foundations of the American republic.

I am inclined to agree with you. If you actually believe limited constitutional government is the best control concept for the human race to believe in, the amendment process is one of it's better attributes.

Wrong, the book, in its composition, from cover art to footnotes, and editor's introduction, are copyrightable.

The Constitution itself is public domain and cannot be copyrighted.

True, but...

This is the kind of thing that a subtle and skilled propagandist can use, and just the thing he or she would use, to paint the document as old, outdated and dead. There really, really does seem to be just such a campaign underway, and not only is it not true it's incredibly dangerous.

I'm not saying restrict their freedom of speech. I'm not saying they have no right to try to limit their liability in this thing. I'm just saying that it's incredibly disrespectful to both the law of this land and to the greatest protection of our freedoms.

My copy of the Constitution says nothing of the sort. Of course, my copy of the Constitution has the superceded (by amendment) portions of the document italicized, bracketed, and footnoted to describe how the affected section was changed and by which amendment. So, no need for a warning label--where such outdated language (or 'regimin of our barbarous ancestors', to quote one of them) exists it's, for lack of a better term, defanged on the spot. Much better than a brainless and misleading warning label.
