Rand did debate Phil Gramm too as Ron was in D.C.

That would be a real gem to uncover. I'm surprised it hasn't surfaced from someone's old VHS archives by now.

Bump, since I recently discovered that indeed Rand made his first political debates there...

Bump. He was only 21 years old. Amazing. The boy was baptized with liberty.

Why would Phil Gramm debate a 21 year old who was subbing for his father? Video of this?

Ron was in DC for an important vote or something. I think Phil Gramm had a pretty comfortable lead in the polls, so he was just like f it I'll debate Rand. I wish there was a video of this...it was before 300 people, but I'm not sure if it was televised or just a town-hall closed-door type debate (I'm presuming it was). Rand apparently held his own and even Gramm complimented him for it

“I listened to him pretty closely,” says Gramm, “and I remember the young man did quite well.”...
