Yep - this is what the Dems are shoving down our throat today and it's being paid by borrowing a measly 6 Billion dollars on the tax payers credit card! - Whoooopppiiieee! What is it? - it's a home improvement bubble! The "home star energy efficiency program".

It's like the cash for clubkers bubble, where most cars bought would have been bought anyway, so the taxpayer ended up paying $25 thousand per car! Not only that, it caused a car sales slump for months after the program ended. Ain't gvme manipulation of the free market great?

So anyway, this is a duplicative program to one the Dept of energy already has going that hasn't spent all it's funds for yet, however installers have to get special certification to do the installs - yeah, only CERTAIN contractors can be used, and that program has resulted in a number of investigations for fraud and sub-standard work/materials. Great reasons to do the exact same think this time - eh?

Oh, yeah - only certain "blessed" materials (read manufactures participating in the kickbacks to politicians campaign funds program) qualify for this assistance! Ain't Congress great??? So it's going to produce thousands of jobs to do the manufacturing and installations - right? Well, I wonder if that will be like the the wind generators that created jobs... In China...

And hay, it's got a broad base of support. They read off part of the list, and it was like a who's who's on K street - so you just KNOW it's got to be full of good stuff!

I am soooo looking forward to November second!

-t
