He is a former congressman who recently announced he is running for Senate in 2010 in NY against Kirsten Gillibrand. According to wikipedia, he thinks he can earn $10 Million for his race. He's also the father of one of the American Idol Judges.

I saw him speak at the "Audit/End the Fed" rally last year:

He's a fiscal conservative who sounds good on foreign policy:

National Security

The best weapon in response to an enemy willing to employ suicide and capable of using nuclear weapons is intelligence—enhanced through technology and human resources, not war. We must put a premium on the development of an intelligence operation, coordinated with our allies, to identify and root out terrorist organizations like al Qaeda. War should be used as a last resort. Iraq was a mistake, and our military should continue to bow out gracefully and allow Iraq to emerge under its own self rule. The war in Afghanistan is a war of choice that needs to be reconsidered in light of the immense foreign policy implications involving two of our allies, Pakistan and India.

Thoughts?

Well, he understands the fiscal situation and opposes the Iraq and Afghanistan war but he is not a non-interventionist.

I hope he wins but I'm not that excited about him.

For some reason I've developed a visceral revulsion to watching TV clips on the internet (I'm really not being a smartass, it's true) so could someone summarize? Is this guy kashrut or what? I like his foreign policy statement.

A timely bump as DioGuardi leads the field for the Republican nomination in this race.

I feel like I am in a different world- Sean Hannity was critiquing the war and hardly talked in that segment, and a guy from the Family Research Council was outright arguing for non-intervention in that war.

I do agree with DioGuardi that Milosevic was a horrible dictator that needed to be deposed. However, his opposition wasn't innocent either, as was clearly pointed out.

BTW, anyone catch the mention of Netanyahu near the beginning? He was backing the Serbs back then and funneling weapons to them. Interesting he is back on top in israeli politics today.
