LOL, I'm not supporting anybody running on an anti-illegal immigration platform, especially if it is their primary issue.

I have no desire to start a war, half the people in my town are Mexican and I wouldn't lift a finger to remove any of them legal or not.

and ya.. CA was liberal before the Mexicans came in droves.

I mean sure, if she was running on and end the welfare for illegals platform, I'd completely support her... but I don't support politicians who support a militant approach to this issue, unless that militarism is occurring AT THE BORDER.... but even then it shouldn't be the focus of their campaign, not if you are trying to win in California.

She gets my vote.

GOP Primary for Governor is a no-win...

Meg Whitman and Steve Poizner, the two RINOS [Republicans in Name Only], represent the CFR! While Poizner is a CFR member, Meg is endorsed by John McCain. In addition she joined Jimmy Carter and Van Jones on a “Climate Cruise” and later declared her admiration for the former green jobs czar!

Let's not forget Meg Whitman's connection to Goldman Sachs:

Dammit. Well I didn't say I wouldn't vote for her. but I'm going to have to see a lot more before giving any sort of 'support'

I believe you just summarized her positions. Yes, it probably won't be popular in California, but you never know.

Chelene's Solutions

*Secure our borders! Support and defend our border patrol agents!
*Enforce current immigration laws and end all state benefits to those here unlawfully.
*Support the California Taxpayer Protection Act at www.taxpayerrevolution.org.
*Enact E-Verify statewide.
*Law enforcement must be required to cooperate fully with I.C.E. to identify, arrest, and deport illegal aliens.
*I will force our out-of-touch legislature to impose fines and stop state funds to all sanctuary cities.
*Ending in-state tuition for illegal aliens will be among my highest priorities.

E-verify was not in my summary. Nor was AZ style "identify" arrest and deportation.

Total crap.

Ron Paul's position on illegal immigration was a bit vague on his 2008 campaign website mid-year, and at the time I didn't know there was so many of his speeches and writings available online so I actually emailed the campaign on a few things I was concerned about. The email I got back and the subsequent writings and speeches he gave on the topic were a welcomed sigh of relief because I was so ecstatic about his other positions, I didn't want illegal immigration to be a deal-breaker.

Maybe Chelene isn't xenophobic, maybe nobody on this forum who has been speaking out for the AZ bill is xenophobic, but people who strongly support anti-illegal immigration with a 'whatever it takes' mentality ALWAYS seem to come off that way.

"I am happy to endorse the gubernatorial candidacy of Chelene Nightingale. Supporters and friends of limited government and true conservative / constitutional principles have no better ally in California than Chelene. She would make a fantastic governor and would lead the way to bringing fiscal sanity back to The Golden State."

~ Chuck Baldwin, 2008 Presidential Candidate, Constitution Party ~

Well, she might have a little more than you wanted. ;) I don't see where she advocates random stops or checkpoints (the big fear of the AZ law).

I think that e-verify is for employers, and doesn't relate to any new id. Not positive on that.

As for law enforcement cooperating with ICE, I guess that could be an issue for you. Usually law enforcement agencies cooperate with each other. It's the actual laws that need to be addressed.

I have personally spoke to Chelene Nightingale at a rally. She is a real firebrand and a very passionate supporter of CFL activist efforts. Nice woman.

I will be voting for her, but I mean look at our choices!? Whitman and Poizner, two freaken RINOs! That said, I don't think Nightingale has a chance. Her boisterous style coupled with her lack of political credentials discounts her. Nevermind how she's absolutely rabid about illegal immigration (even though I agree with) but its CA we're talking about...

She doesn't have a chance of winning, but I'd rather not throw away my vote by voting for the lesser of two evils. Not sure if I'm even going to vote this year.

Vote--you can vote for Devore in the Republican Primary (a favorite on this board) or for Chelene Nightingale in the AIP primary. I'd encourage everyone who isn't interested in the Republican races to join the AIP (temporarily) and vote for the Ron Paul/Chuck Baldwin-allied candidates in the primary--Alan Keyes' infiltrators are attempting to make the AIP a war-mongering, UN loving, party. That's shameful.
