The Courier-Journal let Grayson respond to their non-endorsement of him in the GOP primary against Rand Paul.

Reader Letter | Unendored Senate candidate replies

The Courier-Journal argued in a recent editorial that it cannot recommend a Republican candidate for U.S. Senate to Kentucky voters. Given the paper's views, that's welcome news.

I stand by my strongly pro-life stance and conservative values, especially when it comes to limiting federal government spending, reducing the federal deficit, balancing the budget, ending the bailouts, and unwinding government ownership of private businesses.

To restore our nation's fiscal health, we must reject the liberal tax and spend agenda of Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid and Barack Obama. Let's reject job killing cap and trade energy policies, increased taxes and record borrowing. Let's support regulatory certainty, lower taxes, reduced spending and economic growth.

Additionally I'm the candidate in this race who has consistently supported a strong national security policy to stay on offense against our enemies. On May 18 I ask for your vote in the Republican primary.

TREY GRAYSON

"Given the paper's views, that's welcome news."

That statement right there takes a lot of gall to say considering I remember very distinctly Grayson specifically asking for the paper's endorsement at the end of his interview with the Courier-Journal editorial board. Anybody have that clip?

Is Rand sending one in? Maybe he could mention that in his letter.

... I do think I'm the best candidate and would be worthy of an endorsement on behalf of the editorial board.

Wow so brazenly hypocritical! Someone who has an account should post the text of his begging and the video in the comments section.

It should also be noted that the headline reads "Unendored Senate Candidate replies". Can you imagine what they'd say if a tea partier had a hand made sign misspelled?

This is 1) one of the two biggest papers in the state 2) Full of snobby elitist "journalists" and 3) A freaking firm that's business it to send out correct copy...and has the staff to do it!

I wonder if paper version has the mistake as well. Instead of "tea-bonics" they have "deadtree-bonics"!

In Trey's response it looks like he's co-opted Rand's Talking Points. It appears to me that he's laid in the weeds for months on end seeing what is resonationg w voters and then saying them himself whereas Rand has been saying much of this since last summer.

In THE KENTUCKY ENQUIRER last summer he was quoted as saying: it's a good time to be a Republican. That doesn't sound like a man with much principle to me.
