WASHINGTON – President Barack Obama suggested Wednesday that a new value-added tax on Americans is still on the table, seeming to show more openness to the idea than his aides have expressed in recent days.

really doubt it'll go through though, particularly in the midst of a recession. That said once we recover, or people think we're recovering, I can see this as being a bit more viable...as far as implementation goes.
either way, it's one of the ultimate "hidden taxes", sadly.
