Goldman Sachs Case Figure Raised $100K for Schumer

The fund-raiser sponsored for Chuck Schumer by a central figure in the Goldman Sachs fraud case netted the New York Democrat nearly $100,000, a review of federal campaign records reveals.

John Paulson, of the $33 billion hedge fund firm Paulson and Co., packaged up a bunch of bad mortgage securities for Goldman Sachs and bet they would tank, while Goldman found buyers who wound up soaked for $1 billion, the SEC alleges.
