I've changed my avatar. This was the cartoon image of Muhammad that appeared on a SP episode a long time ago. Feel free to use it.

Aren't there better uses of people's time? I don't think insults (even if you don't see it this way) are going to forward the cause of liberty.

Everybody join the anti-muslim hysteria!

In the 80īs and 90īs we had the "Crazy Arab Terrorist" movie character (i guess that after the BS wars started it was no longer useful and besides it would too obvious to use them now). Now we have the "draw Mohammed" and "Muslims trying to rule the World"...

Freedom of speech and nuke Iran!

Does insulting over a billion people from the comfort of your home make you guys feel good? Is this what the Founders fought for? Liberty to insult people without provocation?

Disgusting.

Seems there is always an enemry du jour to insult, etc. The past decade it's Muslims (and generally, Arabs, before that). I'm sure Latinos will take top spot soon enough.

The point is not to insult, but to support Trey Parker and Matt Stone, courageous Americans that are receiving death threads from religious psychos.

'Courageous....' It's not a military battle. Yeah, it's great to fight censorship, but this whole situation is not a big news item. Ultra-religious people ALWAYS threaten and whatnot over cultural issues. Some of these ultra-religious go too far, obviously. Let's not blow this thing out of proportion, like it's a fight over civilization or something.

And a pack of atheist-secular and christian psychos are threatning to bomb Iran and cause a catastrophe for Mankind.

Me thinks you have some sort of a personal agenda and you camouflage it with all this "freedom of speech" stuff.

All enemies of liberty are my enemies. If violence is initiated against non-aggressors, I will speak out against it. If someone uses fear tactics and intimidation to silence speech, I will repeat the speech 100fold, and louder.

If I am attacked with violence for these words that are in support of freedom, I will respond with deadly force. I am the eye that will never close. I am the one who never initiates violence, but once engaged will never surrender. I am the snake of the deadliest bite. To those who would violate the rights of the people, heed these words: Don't tread on me.

Not too suprising if the Israeli writers of South Park want to stir things up between religions whenever US tries to put pressure on Israel to end occupation of arab land. When Israeli scholar Daniel Pipes had invited Danish cartoonist to Washington few years back was around the same time when Bush started to put pressure on Israel.

This South Park reaction could be related to this too:

Dutch court clears Muslim group over Holocaust cartoon

By Reuters

Tags: Israel news, Jewish world

A Dutch court has acquitted a Muslim group of inciting hatred with a cartoon that questions the Holocaust, in the latest case to provoke debate about freedom of speech in the Netherlands.

The Arab European League (AEL), which published the cartoon on its website, was cleared of insulting Jews because it was not aiming to dispute the Holocaust but to highlight perceived double standards in free speech.

The AEL cartoon shows two men, beneath an 'Auschwitz' sign and beside several bodies, saying the victims might not have been Jewish but the target was six million - the number of Jews killed in the Holocaust.

The AEL said the cartoon was part of a campaign it launched In 2006 to show "the double morals of the West during the Danish cartoon affair". The image came with a disclaimer on the website saying the AEL did not support the views of the cartoon.

Regarding the 'don't tread on me.' Ok. Fine. Do your insults 100fold or whatever. Again, much ado about very little. Not worth a Gadsden moment, imo.

Point is, it's not something new and shocking. Yeah, death threats are stupid, but it's not the first or last time someone with an agenda will make them.

I don't think free speech in America hinges on a south park episode.

yes, small things over time lead to tyranny, i get it. still don't think this particular episode is a major news story. I think the three-four wars we are involved in is a bigger story. people are actually dying in the latter case.

Not everyone can fight for all issues. If you want to fight for issue A, go ahead. But if someone else is more interested in fighting for issue B, for whatever reason, don't discourage them. Death threads are bad no matter how you want to paint it, and supporting the threatened innocent people is good.

If me drawing a picture of Mohammed insults a billion people then a billion people have no life.

There are insults to Christianity all the time - I don't threaten the people that do make those insults - I simply get on with my life.
