Hey guys, We are going to sign an agreement to buy a house in Blanchester OH in just a little while, moving from upstate NY. Would like to connect with other Paultards in the area. If you live near where I am going to be, please let me know. BDK

Sounds like a very smart move :)

You might want to get in touch with malkusm, or look up his posting history and find his map project. He has a map put together with a whole lot of meetups and such.

You also might want to look into local third party efforts, because a lot of "kooks" like us hang out at such things ;)

Paultards? Wow.

We can't surrender labels to our opposition. They'd like nothing more to permamently relegate us to a Lyndon-LaRouche type status.

I had to look Blanchester up on Google.

Here's the first photo Google gave me:

Not politics related, but...
Mark you calendar for September 18th and 19th. That's the 2010 Paw Paw Festvial at Lake Snowden, OH. You'll be just 2.5 hour away. Our family had a great time there at the 2009 festival. We ended up planting 4 paw paw trees this spring.

Good move Billy!

Make sure to check out the Ohio Freedom Allianc (http://www.ohiofreedom.com)e (the former Ron Paul Meetups) and the Ohio Liberty Council (http://ohiolibertycouncil.org/) (A coalition made up of liberty groups, like the Ohio Freedom Alliance, YAL chapters, 9/12, and tea party groups).

Yes, get in touch with the Ohio Freedom Alliance (http://www.OhioFreedom.com/). It was born out of the Ron Paul Movement.

These guys were a great help on my last ride. Both Indiana and Pennsylvania are strong as well so you will have good neighbors

Just curious. What made you decide to move?

And, any special reason for picking Ohio? Here's the most recent data for the "most livable state" rankings: http://os.cqpress.com/StateRank2008_Rankings.pdf:)

At any rate, thanks for the responses. Will definitely check out the freedom alliance. Moved for my wife's work with P&G. I lost my job with them last month, but my wife kept hers - except that it moved to OH. Very tough to find a job that pays anything like one with P&G.

How far is that from Charleston WV?

Congratulations on getting out of the grand shit hole. There is no money you could pay me to live anywhere in NY. Well, OK, you could pay me $1B/day and I'd go for 1 day. :)

I live in West Chester, probably a half hour from Blanchester. My wife works for P&G too.

Yeah, I drove by the giant crab the other day. Very funny and strange. Saw lots of West Chester signs, may have gone through, not sure. As far as NY being a shit hole. Well, I have to tell you, flying back from out of DC, up over the Catskills and into central NY, it is really one of the most lush, beautiful places in the country with thousands of lakes and ponds and hills and mountains, most of it being wilderness and cow country. The shame is that it has been ruined by Albany and it's association with NYC. It would be wonderful place to live if it was not the least free state in the union and determine to suck all of the wealth out of its citizens. Most of the state is truly bucolic and with much more character to the landscape than the midwest. It is still the land of Natty Bumpo, the Deerslayer in terms of its landscape. The large cities are largely very dispersed and the smaller towns are still very delineated from each other unlike most places where all the towns run into each other. There are still many serious hillbillies around here.

I went to Ohio once (Columbus, to be exact). There are probably some beautiful parts of the state, and I know several happy, cheerful people who live there, but from what I saw of it, the immense rust belt urban sprawl and pervasive sense of gloom was off-putting, to say the least. It just doesn't seem like the kind of place where a free-spirited person could be happy; but that's just my opinion.

You sure you wouldn't rather settle in one of the competing Free States, like Wyoming or New Hampshire? :-)
