It shows the stupidity of politics to be honest.

Why would anyone correlate the fact that you are good as bashing people in the head with your ability to lead. In fact, I would argue that someone who gets bashed in the head on such a regular basis would probably not be the brightest guy in the room after a decade of head trauma.

This is honestly part of the issue with Ron Paul. Obama and McCain are easy to sell in sound bites. Ron Paul doesn't have a gimmick - he is just a really smart dude who understands economic and foreign policy, speaks the truth and doesn't such up to anyone.

No. He's still running for office. Here is a campaign event:

The party he runs under over there is akin to the Republicans here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nacionalista_Party#Platform

Ya, but he's actually running for a good cause.. Plus, he's not a CAREER POLITICIAN. Isn't that one of this things that this movement is about? Sure, he has the celebrity status, but he's setting aside his boxing career to try and help the people in the Philippines. How can you say there's anything wrong with that? He has a perfectly good life here in America, but he's choosing to go back to his home country to try and help his people.

Mayweather isn't even scheduled.

Here is when he filed. I guess he lost before:

Exactly. Anyone who knows his story knows he's a humanitarian. Also, he's been in politics before (didn't know he actually ran before).

That fight was scheduled in 09 but then cancelled due to a controversy; but talks will resume as soon as PBF dispatches Shane Mosley.
It will be the biggest money fight in both their careers. http://www.ringsidereport.com/?p=1809

Anyway, congrats to Manny.

I don't know much about Pac Man's politics. It was more a general statement about what people care about. Same as in this country.

I'm not sure what his platform is, but it's good to see that he beat an incumbent of such power.

How's he going to help the people by running as a politician?
Politicians are leaches on society. They steal people's hard-earned money and waste it!

Ron Paul is an exception, but the premise of government is all wrong in the first place, and no one can really "help" people by participating in the criminal organization.

Actually, he's not one for the people. In the Philippines election of 2007 he ran for the same party as the incumbent president (Arroyo). The president was known for corruption and even today has negative ratings. There was even a voice recording of her conversation with the elections chief where she told the chief to add 1 million to her number (vote). The guy (a government agent) who released the recording is now missing (either hiding or dead).

Pacquiao lost that election primarily because he was running in support of that president.

Given how much influence he has, and knowing that the president is corrupt, why did he not speak out against her? Why did he support her? It's just plain politics.

BTW, Philippines is another example of the US spreading its "democracy". The US ambassador to the Philippines supported this president throughout the many scandals that was linked to her and her family. The US also provides monetary assistance to the Philippines to "combat terrorism". I'm sure the money is just pocketed by politicians in the Philippines. So all foreign aid must be stopped!

You assume thats all they are correlating. Which is not something a bright guy would do. Please accept you are ignorant in the affairs of The Philippines, how the people view Manny Pacquiao, and what his interaction/influence is with the people outside of boxing. You are just taking superficial indicators and running with them, which is ignorant.
