Folks, we need some help from anyone here who can help with the Hostettler money bomb. This includes donating. It also includes getting the word out. And the time we have left to do that is short.

I think that by the 22nd we'll have pretty good publicity for this in Indiana (which is not to say we can't use even more of that--we can), but there's a huge untapped resource of Ron Paul supporters nationwide that members of this forum can help reach. My understanding is that Ron Paul will send an email to his whole list for Indiana, but not elsewhere. So take comfort in knowing that anything you do to help spread the word, especially in other states, will be participation in something that Ron Paul himself is doing.

I realize that Hostettler doesn't have the name recognition with RP supporters that Rand and Schiff do. He also doesn't need to raise as much for this primary as they need for theirs, due to the weird circumstances of Bayh's retirement. But he does still need a good amount. Like $50,000. His website will have a donation ticker up on the 22nd. So people will be watching to see if it's a success or a flop, and the results will impact the campaign both financially and in its perception and media coverage.

If you have access to your own list of Ron Paul-ish contacts, or are part of any email group like your state Republican Liberty Caucus, or a group that goes back to the '08 campaign, or a meetup, or other forum, or blog, would you please help?

I'm sorry for begging, but I wouldn't if I didn't think this were a great opportunity for us.

Feel free to plunder any or all of my list of 50 reasons in getting the word out to people:

Here's another way to spread the word - messaging Campaign for Liberty Members.

If you're in CFL you have access to the profiles of everyone in your congressional district and can send them private messages. I'm sending one to everyone in my district as follows:

Dear X,

I'm personally messaging each member of the CFL from Region 2 to make sure they know about the money bomb we're having for John Hostettler for U.S. Senate on April 22.

John Hostettler has been endorsed by Ron Paul and there are many reasons for Ron Paul supporters to back his candidacy. This money bomb is a tremendous opportunity for us to make a real difference. We've set a goal for $50,000 for the day. The campaign will have some kind of a donation ticker up on the website. So people will be watching to see if it's a success or a flop. The results will impact the campaign financially, in its perception by voters, and in its coverage in the media.

Here is Ron Paul's endorsement:

I list 50 reasons for Ron Paul supporters to donate to the campaign on April 22 here:

If you can donate any amount, large or small, please do. And if there's anything you can do to help spread the word about this to others who might be interested in helping, please do that too.

To donate go to http://www.johnhostettler.com.

For liberty,

Eric Rowe

You have to go one at a time, but it's a simple cut and paste job.

The Hostettler campaign is asking for people to make phone calls on its Facebook page here:
http://www.facebook.com/johnhostettler

I assume you can just reply to them via Facebook message if you're on FB. If not, fill out a contact form at http://www.johnhostettler.com. I also know a working on it whose email I can give you if you try one of those and they take too long getting back to you.

Here are some of the things we've got going that I know of (and I'm positive that there are things I don't know of):

The official Hostettler campaign (http://www.johnhostettler.com) is publicizing it on their site and with emails
Supposedly Ron Paul will send an email to his Indiana supporters
Ads on here, the Daily Paul, Facebook, and Hoosier Access (Indiana's biggest political blog)
Mentioned in the American Spectator blog (http://spectator.org/blog/2010/04/16/ron-paul-endorses-john-hostett)
Blogged at Hoosier Access (http://hoosieraccess.com/blog/2010/04/21/hostettler-money-blitz/)
Blogged at Hoosier Pundit (http://hoosierpundit.blogspot.com/2010/04/hostettler-planning-april-22-money.html)
The Daily Paul will put 50 reasons (http://dailypaul.com/node/132183) to donate to Hostettler on its front page tomorrow
Mentioned in the Republican Liberty Caucus blog (http://www.rlc.org/2010/04/21/endorses-john-hostettler/)
Mentioned in a news story on a major Indiapolis TV station (http://www.theindychannel.com/news/23210958/detail.html) (not sure if this is just online or televised)
Mentioned on a blog I don't know much about called Conservative Heritage Times (http://conservativetimes.org/?p=5116)
Getting plugged in a lot of different email lists people belong to
The Facebook event (http://www.facebook.com//event.php?eid=118590871486104)

Thanks to all of you who are doing your part. Keep up the good work. This thing is taking off. None of what any of you are doing is in vain, and you're in good company with lots of other RP supporters and RP himself helping out with this.

Nice one. I don't see it in that huge list of headlines. But I trust you're right that it's there.

Campaign for Liberty sent out an email with their survey results for Indiana today.

Thanks for mentioning that. I deleted it without reading it.

Hostettler left #15 blank, "Will you oppose federal power grabs like roving wiretaps and warrantless searches, and oppose Patriot Act renewal that includes such items?" I assume because it groups things together, only some of which he will pledge to oppose. Other than that he got 100%.

Stutzman also left that one blank, and answered No to the one about the UN. Don Bates got a 100% on it without leaving any blank, which is pretty fishy since he's already on record supporting the Patriot Act, and I have a hunch that's not the only answer where he was being untruthful.
