at the bottom of this article highlighting the stats in which Paul and Obama are virtually tied. I thought it was interesting that IF the Tea Party was to form as a political party they would garnish 21% or roughly 1 in 4 out of likely voters.

http://www.rasmussenreports.com/public_content/politics/elections2/election_2012/election_2012_barack_obama_42_ron_paul_41

If the Tea Party was organized as a political party, 34% of voters would prefer a Democrat in a three-way congressional race. In that hypothetical match-up, the Republican gets 27% of the vote with the Tea Party hopeful in third at 21%. However, if only the Democrat or Republican had a real chance to win, most of the Tea Party supporters would vote for the Republican.

On a personal note I'd like to see it happen. What are your thoughts? I hope it does and then perhaps Ron Paul can run under another banner other than GOP.

I really like the idea of a powerful third party. I really do. But in this case, I think a Tea Party candidate just means a second term for Obama.

I think we need to transform the Republican the party or at least make our ideas heard. If we create a 3rd party the only thing it will do is guarantee the election of a democrat.

I think we're starting to make an impact and if we keep it up eventually our ideas will be the majority and neo-cons will be the minority.

an open ended question like this does not immediately delineate a timeframe and yes... any time
in the next 20 years given his physical health and mental alertness could be ideal for such a run!

It will fail.

There is a Tea Party party in FL now I believe.

I think a better way of moving forward for a new "third party" would be to have a "liberty primary" to have everyone vote for who they want as their Republican Party candidate.

A primary primary.

What's the reason for a primary? To group everyone in an organization behind a single candidate so that the vote isn't split in the next election...

I really like the idea of a powerful third party.

I would settle for a powerful SECOND party. I just see two wings of one party in our government at the present.

IMO if our efforts fail and the GOP nominates a moderate or a liberal, then we should run a Tea Party candidate, especially if it ensures a second term for Obama. It would send a message to the Republican Party and another term of Obama would keep the GOP popular enough to defeat entrenched democrats (which will be good for our future Ron Paul Republican congressional candidates).

Since the Tea Parties have been co-opted by neocons, the Tea Party as a political party will likely just be the equivalent of another Republican party full of neocons. I vote NO.

The democrats and republicans are the same beast, they got us all fooled.

They argue with each other and we get distracted, and they pass their socialist agenda.

The republicans say "watch out for November." And the democrats just smile.

The so called conservative media says "We will vote you out." They are part of operation
Distract and Confuse. It seems they are not quite ready to say they are postponing elections,
they will likely do this when it is very near.

The image of the house speaker and her cronies walking with the huge gavel, with
the huge laugh they all smiling like the chesire cat. They know they will get booted out for doing this.

So why are they smiling..
