View Full Version : We need to spread the word that Obama is a corporatist

With Goldman Sachs, Obama's largest corporate donor, being charged with fraud by the SEC, we need to emphasize the fact that Goldman supports the financial reform bill, and that the "Volcker Rule" is designed to cripple smaller banks and help Goldman Sachs.

We dont need to be lumped in with the "O-Baw-muh is uhhh so-cial-ist" redneck tea-o-cons, we need to instead emphasize that Obama is a corporatist, and that the liberty message is about empowering individuals, not corporations.

Well, the game is basically one of semantics. Practically, Obama fits a range of dirty words.

Use the appropriate word in context. I agree that Goldman's current woes could be successfully stuck to Obama with due intelligence and prudence.

Agreed. But saying he's a socialist makes it too easy for the media to cast us all as rich white males who are mad that Obama wants to take our money. If we instead call him a corporatist, suddenly we come off as more intellectual, and we are able to unite populists on both sides against a common enemy in corporate greed

I do not believe it will turn out well with neocons. This kid who is the president of the Young Republicans Club at my little brother's high school apparently made some "Corporate Rights" thing he had published in the school newspaper, which he is an editor in. It was rather disgusting. Thankfully my brother is in the process of making a Young Libertarians Club which will be made next semester. Oddly, he has some self professed socialists wanting to help make the club.

Based on my own experiences, many Republicans also want to defend corporations. Again, it will not be easy.

The use of the word "redneck" and the need to distance yourselfs from the "socialist" accusations agains Obama suggests a) liberal intellectualoid elitist tendencies. b) That the media attack is affecting you and being successful at creating a sense of shame.

Anyone that knows the true history of communism, the russian revolution and the way high finances and many corporations traded and collaborated with the USSR before and during the Cold War knows that many times "corporatism" and "socialism/communism" are one and only.

Its still control over the lifes of people and economy by some "higher power" and Oprompter mentor is still Weather Underground boy Bill Ayers.

Ron Paul did make some good news copy when he said Obama was not a socialist, but rather a Corporitist. He followed that up, I believe in a latter interview, by adding that Corporatism often leads to "National Socialism". I'm sure all here know what what that means, but the headlines would undoubtedly have been "different" if he had instead used the "F Word"...

But yes, this really needs to be an issue, as does an issue he brings up regularly, but is rarely expanded on - government regulation. That's a hard battle to fight, as to address it means Congress would have to do something they never, ever do - admit that most of what they do is counterproductive and wrong. The root cause of the countries problems.

Every regulation is a tax, an unfunded mandate, a productivity killer. They are why whole industries are leaving our shores, a driver of inflation and a grower of government size, power and cost.

How many here have read Cyberpunk? Specifically William Gibsons Neuromancer and Burning Chrome? SF about life under corporate government. The latter is short stories, and might be easier to sample.

There are people on the other side that are very venoment in their views - and I'm not talking about a political party, but rather people like broadcasters that will explode angrily if it's suggested that the airwaves belong to the people and not them. This clip seems to sum up those attitudes well:

What this proves is that there is not much difference between dems and repubs ;)

Hey...Isn't GOLDMAN SACHS a Corporation? Isn't GOLDMAN SACHS pretty much the United States Corporation?

Isn't it cool that even the UK and Germany are out to INVESTIGATE the United States Corporation?

Could spell trouble for some of our best-loved CORPORATISTS...They know who they are.

Very nice clip! - thanks for sharing.

One technical issue though - the volume change from the rest of the vid between 4:20 and 4:57 is kind of extreme... normalizing that would be good.

I keep trying to fix that, but I can't get anywhere. It doesn't help things that I'm Deaf :) I also made another video, "Dr. Consistency", that I think has some audio issues as well. The captions on both videos work great though.

I really wish we were just fighting socialism. If it was just socialism, it would defeat itself. This is Corportism though, and the GOP-loyalists need to realize this.

Do you not have an audio editor? I am sure you could find a free down load for one and then you could just read the meters.

I've used and I know lots of people have good things to say about Audacity. It's a good program!

If you have money, DC Eight is incredible software! - especially the forensic version. Pricey, but it will wash your windows :)

Though the word corporatist never appears, I compiled this vid about a year ago to make it clear that Obama is in the pockets of the Wall Street corporations
YouTube - PROOF Obama is Wall Street's Lap Dog (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Kb_Zkm5zqfY)
and this one is aimed at the liberals
YouTube - Hey liberals, Obama is not on your side (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GpWsH-t1eBc&feature=watch_response_rev)

I often correct people when they say he is a socialist. I support the move to have people stop mislabeling and start defining him correctly. So here is to hoping people get a clue.
