This debate is a big Values Voter debate, with top names from all over the country. It's in Washington DC October 20, and there will be a straw poll open to voters online. Trick is, you have to be a "member." Apparently you have to make some kind of donation, but they'll take even $1.00

Make sure to sign up so you can take part in the polling. I heard about this on the uber-conservative Bill Bennett Show (I guess he's a speaker, too), and they're hoping to discover the Republican candidate through this event.

I'm sorry if this offends but wouldn't it be better to allow them to vote without polluting the outcome? It would give us a much better idea on our support in their demographic. I mean we can only vote once in the election, but we keep doing everything we can to vote in every online poll there is. I personally think it's giving us a false sense of security.

Well, perhaps. But if one is interested in voting in the straw poll, they will need to be registered. There is nothing in the rules of the game that say you can't vote if you want to. If I watch the debate, I would like to have the opportunity to vote. It's just a coincidence that my candidate is always the winner in my eyes. But I'm a real voter, nonetheless.

I don't see anything at the website about there being a debate. It just says that all of the top GOP candidates are speakers at the summit. I don't doubt that you're right about there being a straw poll for it (though I didn't see anything about that either). But it sure doesn't look like they have a debate planned.
