Vote with the party, or else.

Georgia's state senate just recently voted to increase taxes on hospitals (guess which party came up with the bill to increase taxes), and a few Republicans who refused to support the tax hike were bullied out of their committee positions for not voting with the rest of the Republican senators.

Senator Preston Smith rises in the House to remind the GOP what they stand for, and the Lt. Governor gets pissed:

Georgians, we have some senate cleaning to do.

This reminds me of exactly the kind of strong-arming that Obama used to pull off the healthcare bill.

(The echo gets bad, unfortunately, and ruins some of the audio)

Mr. Smith has posted the speech on his website. It's a pretty good summary of what's wrong with the Republican party in general, and someone within the GA General assembly finally got the guts to say it.

yeah, I agree, so many of our state's legislators and leadership are void of actual conservative principle and ideas. They are also very entrenched.

Good on Preston.
