Talk about someone's Freudian Slip showing, Noam Chomsky just came out admitting that the U.S. has never tried real capitalism.

No more than Ron Paul acknowledging that true socialism has never existed would be an endorsement of socialism.

No, but it was a pretty self-contradicting statement coming from somebody who has consistently blamed free markets for all of America's problems. I think he knows darn well that America's never had real capitalism, but actually hearing him admit to this is pretty shocking.

From my perspective, I think his statement is coming from what Gandhi's point of view would have been.. Isn't that who he was talking about. Gandhi and western civilization/capitalism?

His stance here is seemingly different from the time he stated that people would want to commit suicide to get out of a libertarian society. Or was he just stating we haven't ever had anything as completely horrible as free market capitalism?

I didn't quite get it when he said that the elites "know" that if real capitalism was tried it would destroy the economy. It suppose he meant it would destroy their economy

Yeah, I'm not exactly sure what he meant either. How can the very activity which created the economy (mutual and voluntary exchange of goods and services) ever destroy it? It's as if he believes that there has to be a state for there to be a functioning enterprise system, which is pretty silly.

Heh...is it just me, or is Hugo Chavez's entire face just one creepy-ass Polynesian mask? ;)
