An Invitation to Support Peace, Freedom, and Sound Money

Ithaca, NY - A number of Tompkins County residents united in their support of peace, freedom, and sound money will be meeting on Tax Day, April 15, outside the downtown Ithaca Post Office from 12-5 PM, and all are invited to attend. The Ithaca Campaign for Liberty will be represented, along with other individuals who desire peace and oppose the government's use of taxpayer dollars to wage endless wars and expand the power of the State.

Gathering on Tax Day is a tradition that serves to point out some of the immoral uses of public funds, and encourages people to think about the nature and purpose of government. Taxation prevents new wealth from being created, and destroys wealth that already exists. Taxation diverts resources away from productive sectors of the economy, channeling them toward things like war, bailouts, and bureaucracy. Taxes such as the income tax need to be eliminated in order to free the full productive potential of the American people.

Establishment of the Federal Reserve System and government backing of fractional reserve banking has created a dangerous cartel and concentrates the creation of money and credit in the hands of large, politically-connected financial institutions. Collusion between government and bankers needs to be eliminated, and the regulations and subsidies that have served to concentrate wealth among Wall Street elites need to be abolished.

The greatest economic fallacy of our time is that wealth and prosperity can be created through the actions of government. The creation of wealth can only come about through the actions of free individuals, unencumbered by onerous government regulations and incessant intervention and meddling with the economy.

The Ithaca Campaign for Liberty is a voluntary organization whose focus is to educate people in the principles of individual liberty, peaceful interaction, sound money, and free markets. Join us on Thursday, April 15, from 12-5 PM near the downtown Ithaca Post Office at 213 North Tioga Street to show support for these principles.
