there was "bushwacking" before and after, by ostensively
both sides, as in prior to 1861 and after 1865 yet we must all say
that there are reasons as to why the northern vets parade by their new potus
in 1865 as the call-up regiments finally go home after mr. u.s. grant talks to mr. r.e. lee!

He just makes two faulty, yet common, assumptions.

1) That the civil war "was based on the desire to continue slavery". This, of course, is completely false.

2) He confuses terrorists with insurgents.

our military tactics were almost as rigid as were those of all the armies in the napoleonic wars.
the battles of 1864 into 1865 forecast the way europe waged war in WW1 some 50+ years later!

to Southerners, the Yankees were the terrorists - i.e. Sherman's march to the sea was only a small portion of the atrocities.

there's no support for Confederates being terrorists. they couldn't even make the label traitor stick -- they were afraid to try Jefferson Davis because they knew they couldn't prove treason charges, so they let him go after taking two years to figure this out.
