Those 40 supporters we lost made all the difference, but even if we won, they'd have said, 'He only won by 38 votes'. This muddies things, I'm still in shock.

I didn't get that from FOX, but the guy giving the results cringed when saying Ron's name and how he came in 2nd place by only 1 vote..

Hey, you win one, you lose one. Not a big deal.

Whatever happened to Mitt Romney's sideburns?

it's a tie if you go by %

Newt Gingrich 18%
Mike Huckabee 4%
Gary Johnson 1%
Sarah Palin 18%
Ron Paul 24% (438 votes)
Tim Pawlenty 3%
Mike Pence 3%
Mitt Romney 24% (439 votes)
Rick Santorum 2%

If it had been Ron Paul up by 1 vote, you know the headline would have been "Romney and Paul Tie in SRLC Straw Poll".

What 40 voters?

There was, reportedly, a group of 40 Paul supporters who weren't allowed to vote because they showed up late to register.

Were they from the LP Convention in Mississippi?

guys... the alternative libertarian candidate getting a low % in the "who would you pick second" is a good thing. This is because if the alternative libertarian candidate got say... 24% then the media et al. would argue that RP people all voted for the libertarian. This way, they cant say that and it actually looks like "real" voters chose RP and they chose "real" candidates as their second choice.

We need to build a Ron Paul AirForce ready at will for the movement to head out to these events.

Its definitely hard to believe that the difference was one vote. I wonder what the margin of error traditionally is for ballots of this type and size? I'm sure greater than one vote...

Don't worry. Even if you had gone...or 40 others had gone too, I'm supremely confident Romney would have still won by one vote. ;)
