Re: Spring 2010 Missouri NORML State Conference in St. Louis this
Saturday, April 10

Dear Members and Supporters of NORML in Missouri:

The Spring 2010 Missouri NORML State Conference will take place this
coming Saturday, April 10, 2010 in St. Louis. Since marijuana prohibition
began, there has never been a more exciting time for marijuana law reform.

Please be with us this Saturday to hear from people who are involved in
the ongoing effort to bring about positive reform of marijuana laws in our
cities, our state and our nation. The event begins at 9:00 a.m. and
continues through 5:00 p.m. at the Community Arts and Media Project (CAMP)
in the historic Randall building at 3026 Cherokee Street.

Among the speakers this Saturday will be Ray Hartmann, Riverfront Times
founder and St. Louis Magazine publisher; Redditt Hudson; former St. Louis
police officer and ACLU Racial Justice Director; John Coffman, attorney
and lobbyist for the ACLU in the Missouri General Assembly; Travis Noblem
former narcotics squad leader and criminal defense attorney; John Payne of
the Missouri-based think tank, Show-Me Institute; Don Yarber, Mayor of the
city of Cottleville which passed a resolution supporting statewide medical
marijuana law reform and me, Dan Viets, criminal defense attorney,
national NORML Board member and Missouri NORML Coordinator.

Also speaking will be Mr. Mark Pederson of the Cannabis Patient Network
who will host a panel of medical marijuana patients from across our state
and attorney Joseph P. Welch who will lead a panel of criminal defense
attorneys discussing how to exercise your constitutional rights and avoid
becoming a casualty of the “war on drugs”.

The event is hosted by the Greater St. Louis Chapter of NORML which is
also planning a fundraising dinner and auction that evening at The Stable,
1821 Cherokee. Everyone who attends the conference is invited to join us
for an entertaining and relaxing evening there. Everyone who attends is
asked to contribute at least one item for auction to help with the
expenses of the Conference.

The Missouri General Assembly will be ending its 2010 session on May 15.
John Coffman will give us an update on the status of pending marijuana
–related legislation. St. Louis NORML is in an ongoing effort to obtain
sufficient signatures to place marijuana law reform measures on the ballot
there. The citizens of Cottleville will be voting on a couple of
marijuana law reform measures this fall. The upcoming round of elections
this fall will provide another opportunity for us to raise issues relating
to marijuana law reform at public candidate forums and in the news media.
Marijuana legislation will be on the ballot in California this November
and may also be on the ballot in Oregon and the state of Washington.

Please join us this Saturday for an excellent opportunity to meet with
like-minded marijuana law reformers from throughout the state of Missouri!

Sincerely,

Dan Viets
Missouri NORML Coordinator
