The question is do these people really believe it or will respond to anything they deem as negative that they associate with Obama. Not that I believe being Muslim or Kenyan is negative - but I imagine that these people do:

57 percent of Republicans (32 percent overall) believe that Obama is a Muslim 45 percent of Republicans (25 percent overall) agree with the Birthers in their belief that Obama was "not born in the United States and so is not eligible to be president" 38 percent of Republicans (20 percent overall) say that Obama is "doing many of the things that Hitler did" Scariest of all, 24 percent of Republicans (14 percent overall) say that Obama "may be the Antichrist." These numbers all come from a brand-new Harris poll, inspired in part by my new book Wingnuts. It demonstrates the cost of the campaign of fear and hate that has been pumped up in the service of hyper-partisanship over the past 15 months. We are playing with dynamite by demonizing our president and dividing the United States in the process. What might be good for ratings is bad for the country.

The poll, which surveyed 2,230 people right at the height of the health-care reform debate, also clearly shows that education is a barrier to extremism. Respondents without a college education are vastly more likely to believe such claims, while Americans with college degrees or better are less easily duped. It's a reminder of what the 19th-century educator Horace Mann once too-loftily said: "Ignorance breeds monsters to fill up the vacancies of the soul that are unoccupied by the verities of knowledge."

certainly not the Anti-Christ. The Anti-Christ is supposed to have complete support throughout the world. Obama is widely unpopular.

The antichrist? Seriously?

We have a long road ahead of us.

I'd like to see the actual questions, polling is all about how you word the questions and then manipulate the data. it sounds like it was funded by John Avlon, author of Wingnuts: How the Lunatic Fringe is Hijacking America, which doesn't sound like an unbiased source or someone without a predetermined goal.

More like a muppet. Here's his latest video.

QFT

He also isnt either a good person or a bad person based on his religion, place of birth (constitutional legality not withstanding) or the color of his skin. If he is a good person or a bad person, it has only to do with the choices he makes. If he chooses to be a puppet and usurp power for himself and his shadowy puppet masters, then he can choose to be so, and will be judged based on that decision.

I think Obama probably wins reelection for whatever reason.

Some of this overheated silly rhetoric will eventually disappear. It's like the birther stuff...it can only go on so long before people just blow it off.

I agree. The thing to remember is the people that believe this stuff (or say they believe this stuff) aren't voting for Obama anyway.

If I were the anti-Christ, I think I'd be terribly offended.

What he is: A dangerous and naive immoralist who believes his good intentions are the only thing that matters (healthcare for his grandma). He is a brilliant and charming liar and is able to sell war and welfare as few others can. Such is the nature of democracy in the competitive production of bad people, bad policies and bad outcomes.
