In marketing you usually get what you ask for.
I wanted to suggest that at the meetups we make sure we have a few signs like these:
"Donate to Ron Paul"
"Donate at RonPaul2008.com"
"Learn about Ron Paul and the Donate"
(and whatever other donation request ideas people can come up with) along with the standard "Ron Paul Revolution" and "Who is Ron Paul?" signs.
I think it would have a nice effect. If you put up this kind of sign it says that you have donated yourself. That's a much more intriguing and dedicated message. It conveys to the reader that this candidate is not only worth knowing about, but also worth donating too. It's a "put your money where your mouth is" testimonial.
What do you think? If it's a good idea is there a way to get the word out to all the meetup groups?
I wonder what the effect would be if at one meetup ALL the signs were asking for people to donate to Ron Paul?
