Eye surgeon Rand Paul on Monday will launch his largest television ad buy yet in Kentucky's hotly contested GOP Senate primary.

Paul's new 30 second ad, which campaign manager David Adams said is at least a 1000 point broadcast buy in every major media market in the state, seeks to paint his primary opponent Trey Grayson as the candidate of Washington, D.C., insiders.

"Grayson's raising campaign money from the very people who supported the bailouts," the new ad states. "His biggest event, hosted by lobbyists for bailed out AIG. .. .Rand Paul can't be bought. He'll take our government back by taking on the Washington machine."

It's hard to accomplish too much more than one thought\theme in a 30 second ad.

This ad seems to get it's message across for a short clip.

The only critique I have is that they needed to put some selected subtitles at the bottom of the page. Remember that most voters are older and many have a hard time hearing. This would help.

it sets the stage to get ready for the new Courier-Journal polling that could
really be the knockout punch of ex-Democrat Grayson.

Hope they have some positive ads too, especially for the finish. Negative ads carry blowback, which is why candidates typically use them when they're behind, not ahead. But above all, you have to finish with a positive message.
