I notice 95% of threads where the PATRIOT Act is mentioned use the form "Patriot Act", when in fact the PATRIOT Act has nothing to do with patriotism and is a horribly contrived acronymn of:

Providing Appropriate Tools Required to Intercept and Obstruct Terrorism

We are playing into the hands of those who want the "meme" of that bill to be "patriotism" when we use the non-capitalized form.

It's a minor issue, but if you could, please use the capitalized form at least (PATRIOT Act) if you don't want to use the more descriptive form of P.A.T.R.I.O.T. Act, which is what I'll be using from now on whenever I type it.

Even Wikipedia says, "commonly known as the 'Patriot Act'".

Anyway, doubt this thread will have much effect this late in the game, but just something to keep in mind when you're typing it.

In fact, maybe we should re-acronymn P.A.T.R.I.O.T. to something more accurate.

How about the...

Pathetic Attempt To Ruin Individualism Over Time Act

:D

That's much closer to the truth I think. ;)

Other suggestions welcome!!!!

Good suggestion. The P.A.T.R.I.O.T Act looks more accurate.

Perniciously Arrogant Treasonous Regime Initiating Overt Totalitarianism Act

No one else wants to join in on this fun? Maybe I just have too much time on my hands.
