Republicans are "on the defensive," the official said, "and as long as they're not cooperating, we ought to keep them there."

Everything I've read lately is 180 degrees from this. Although I'm not big on a congress filled with establishment Republicans either.

I'd say it's pretty delusional at this point to consider the Dems on the offensive and the Republicans on the defensive.

;)it's all theatrics...one should question the timing more than coincidental with the Maher commentary.

America generally allies with the underdog. So this is a tactic to elicit a certain response. Pavlov's dogs...
