NEW EU GESTAPO SPIES ON BRITONS

Millions of Britons face being snooped on by a new European agency

MILLIONS of Britons face being snooped on by a new European intelligence agency which has been handed frightening powers to pry into our lives.

Europol can access personal information on anyone – including their political opinions and sexual preferences – if it suspects, rightly or wrongly, that they may be involved in any “preparatory act” which could lead to criminal activity.

The vagueness of the Hague-based force’s remit sparked furious protests yesterday with critics warning that the EU snoopers threaten our right to free speech.

It is understood the agency will concentrate on anyone thought “xenophobic” or likely to commit a crime involving the environment, computers or motor vehicles.

This could include covert monitoring of people who deny the existence of climate change or speak out on controversial issues.

Paul Nuttall, chairman of the UK Independence Party, said: “I am horrified. We thought Gordon Brown’s Big Brother state was bad enough but at least we are going to kick him out in May. These guys we cannot sack until we leave the EU.”

James Welch, legal director of campaign group Liberty, said: “We have huge concerns that Europol appears to have been given powers to hold very sensitive information and to investigate matters that aren’t even crimes in this country. Any extension of police powers at any level needs to be properly debated and scrutinised.”

Until January 1, Europol was a police office funded by various states to help tackle international organised crime. But it has been reborn as the official criminal intelligence-gathering arm of the EU and Brussels has vastly increased its powers.

It can now target more than simply organised crime and the burden of proof required to begin monitoring an individual has been downgraded.

Europol has also been absorbed into the EU superstructure, so it will be centrally funded, sweeping away a key check on its independence.

Campaigners last night expressed concern over the vague list of “serious crimes” which the agency can help investigate, which include racism and xenophobia, environmental crime and corruption. Among personal details that can be gathered and stored are “behavioural data” including “lifestyle and routine; movements; places frequented”, tax position and profiles of DNA and voice.

Where relevant, Europol will also be able to keep data on a person’s “political opinions, religious or philosophical beliefs or trade union membership and data concerning health or sex life”.

Sean Gabb, director of the Libertarian Alliance, warned that it threatened our right to free speech.

“It doesn’t surprise me that Europol has been handed these rather frightening powers,” he said. “We now live in a pan-European state so it was to be expected that it would have a federal police force with powers over us.

“There is a real danger that opposition to EU policies could make an individual liable to arrest.

“For example, if Brussels adopts a hard-line stance on climate change, it’s conceivable that someone who broadcasts their scepticism of climate change may be accused of committing an environmental crime because they have undermined the EU’s efforts to save mankind.”

Timothy Kirkhope, Conservative leader in the European Parliament, said: “Europol’s new mandate has significantly expanded its powers.

“There is a real chance that the vague mandate will enable it to gradually extend its areas of intervention even further.”

The Home Office insisted the changes were in Britain’s interests.

A spokesman said: “Europol is now in a much stronger position to better support our fight against serious and organised crime and terrorism.”

Fuck I hate England. All the far-left authoritarian wackos I know in Canada (a lot of em) love to use "England's doing it, why can't we?" as an argument for increased bullshit.

England is just miserable. There are microchips in the trashcans, cameras on every corner, almost no private gun ownership.

It seems almost as though they're the trial-run for a truly Orwellian society.

Since this is an EU Pre Crime Police force, I'm going to assume it's range and jurisdiction is all over Europe.

Trial run? I'd say they are already there, at least on the surveillance end of things.

We're right behind them.

Orwell could only imagine the technology available to the state right now.

The thing is the Britons just roll over everytime this stuff comes up. The only who says is anything really is Daniel Hannan, and he's a voice in the wilderness.

I really think we're only a few years behind them. There huge National Health Services program amongst all the other socialist utopia programs just demoralize and weaken any independent spirit these people have, making them even more wards of the State.

It seems like we are exactly in their footsteps.

You know, our ancestors left Great Britain for a reason. It seems all the more prescient today.

The UKIP also protests this things.

The problem Daniel Hannan has is in his party nobody pays him any attention.

Btw, I want to assure my european lords that I am an obedient and good socialist. All hail Goverment!!

Then you throw out there a few arrests, a few media demonization campaigns, like the one you are seeing right now, and most of the people that were beating around the edges of solutions hightail it right back to the tall grass.

Which is, of course, what the systems wants.

Hold onto your hat, there will be a large false flag event in the next few weeks.

All this minor stuff is just "chatter".

This will end any organized resistance to the latest wave of government control, allowing the system to crystallize the new edicts in place.

So, will there be information between US LEA and this new agency. Best way to stop terrorism is before it starts.

Nude beaches and hash bars do not a free society make.

There's a whole lot more to it than that.

I would like to see that.

I'd also like to see some more details on this EU police force.

The article was sketchy on details.

It's worse than that. They already have the cameras in private homes to spy on parents.

The UK has gotten so much worse since 9/11 and then the undergrund bombings a few years after.

I saw this article in a UK paper on a newstand over the weekend. I read the headline and thought it was a joke from some tabloid. My husband, being French, said that the Brits just hate everything about the EU, so he dismissed it as well. Lol, I am going to send him this link. This is some scary stuff.

I’ve been forced to come to the conclusion that the United Kingdom is possibly the worst country in the industrialized world. And it’s not just the weather and the food and the teeth and the degenerate royals. It’s the outright tyranny that festers there. Every week it seems, some new law or court decision comes down that is beyond ridiculous and which makes the American state look almost like a paragon of reason and liberty. This week, there was the story of the great-grandmother who was put under house arrest and faced prison time for selling a goldfish to a teenage boy. There was the case of the British baby snatchers who actually went out of their way to convince the Spanish government to snatch a baby from the arms of a breastfeeding mother because she might have one day been a bad mother. The cases of outrageous baby snatching are too many to even list here. The British state has perhaps the most aggressive baby snatchers on all the earth. And the British tolerate it.

Then there was that case in which a homeowner was sentenced to prison time for beating up armed robbers who imprisoned and terrorized the homeowner’s family. The robbers went free. The homeowner couldn’t defend his home with a gun because guns are essentially banned in the UK. It should surprise no one that violent crime and property crime in the UK are sky high.

There was the case of the alcoholic who died after he was refused medical treatment by the socialist-medicine police who determined he wasn’t worthy. The UK has one of the most inefficient socialist health care systems in the world and in has only been in recent decades that one has even been allowed to hire a private doctor at all.

Most civilized countries have at least expressed some doubts about American foreign policy. Not in the UK. It’s always full speed ahead with the state. The UK is a pioneer in police brutality as well.

Basically, take all of America’s worst faults, ramp them up by about 50 percent, and you have the UK, where all the worst freedom-destroying tactics, laws, and abuses are tried out before export to the United States. Yet another once-nice country ruined by its awful government.

UPDATE:Says one reader:

I had to laugh at your recent post on lewrockwell.com about the UK… I laughed because I have recently started saying the same thing, and in almost the exact same words. In fact, it was the story about the man who defended his home with a cricket bat – and went to jail for it – that finally convinced me that England is the worst nation on Earth.

I’m sure you didn’t mean your list to be comprehensive, but we might add to it the appalling anti-male family courts there which make ours look like models of decency, as well as the man who was arrested for blowing his nose… while his car was in park at a red light!

Something’s rotten in the state of England, and it’s not just the food!
