It is good that Palin is getting challenged as the Tea Party leader now after the campaign stop in Arizona for McShame.

Root is the #2 headliner behind Sarah Palin at today’s Tea Party Showdown in Searchlight, Nevada.
Before today’s rally this morning, Palin spoke at a rally for McCain.

I think the Tea Party movement is a dangerous trap for RP supporters. I mean I know RP supporters started it, but they should distance themselves from it. I don't like the way violence and racism are being attributed to the Tea Party.

I know less about the Tea Party than I do about CFL, and I'm on the fence about even CFL, which I know was started by Ron, and already we've seen problems from them.

We should be very careful about supporting or participating in any organized groups.

. I don't like the way violence and racism are being attributed to the Tea Party.
Attributed by who? That part is quite telling.
It was a black man (attending a Tea Party) that was beaten by SEIU thugs.
The allegations were made up by the media with no basis in fact.

The tea Party has been Co Opted, and every "movement" has been. We even see some of it here from time to time.
It is best to keep a very loose associations with many local leaders. Too many targets to attack. ;)

Agreed, my point is that the "Tea Party" brand has become a target. I was just talking with a friend the other day who pointed out this extremely biased and misleading article that he wrote to the editor about...

Tea Party Advocates Who Scorn Socialism Want a Government Job
http://www.bloomberg.com/apps/news?pid=20601087&sid=aLBZwxqgYgwI&pos=8

Check out the article and notice how the author makes distinctions between Tea Party "supporters", "backers", and "sympathizers". The article makes it seem like Tea Party people support the government "creating jobs" which clearly is not the case.

Agreed. I'm not demonizing them, I'm simply advising everyone to keep their distance. Probably preaching to the choir around here, but we should always beware of "branding" ourselves. It's one thing to participate in a "Tea Party" function, it's another thing to advise others to "join" a certain group.

Attributed by who?

last saturday we attended the D.C. peace march and right afterwards walked over to Capitol Hill to the tea party health protests.

-guess which group were more open and friendly to people wearing ron paul t-shirts? guess which group were loud, aggressive and, imo, kind of scary?

i'm not saying all tea parties around the country are like we saw, but just from this experience- i'm keeping my distance from them.

It will be 100 years before the Tea Party can be practiced by true patriots again after the Republicans are finished with it.

Loud and angry I can understand. I won't even deny that there may be racists among them. We see them here to. They are pretty much everywhere, but are a minority of any "race".

Heck I am angry, and can get loud. Perhaps I am just a scary guy. ;)

But the only violence in the beginning was directed AT the tea party folks. In Fact it has been caught on tape several times. Violence was minimized once by a man Open Carrying. The thugs left.
But that is not how the media is portraying it.

that's true. -but there was a distinct difference between the Ron Paul people-- everybody we met-- that day in July 2008, and the people we met last saturday. At the revolution, we felt like we were at home...just everyone made so much sense to us. i don't know how to explain it...but there was a real difference.
