I hope the Liberty Movement will have second thoughts about promoting Jesse Ventura (http://www.ronpaulforums.com/showthread.php?t=237807).

I hope they don't. You're worrying about supporting the ideal candidate when in many cases, before you can even elect the ideal candidate you have to get in guys that will open the door to that possibility. Jesse is a popular and enormous figure that crushes the status quo on many issues. I'd support him in a heart beat.

I think in the end, the purist will never get what they want if they can't understand how they got there.

I'm not a purista by any stretch of the imagination, but it will be a cold day in hell before Ventura ever gets my vote. He's great television, but horrible policy. I'll support his television program no problem, but I'd actively campaign against him running for President.

I will NOT have any big government socialist healthcare nazi's representing me!! Not now, not ever!

jesse is perfect in the role he's playing right now. Jesse is the kind of leader who would come to power by calling out the past leaders for being dictators only to be one himself.

I'm not a purist. Jesse Ventura's support of Government Healthcare is a big deal. I doubt Ron Paul supporters realized this when Ventura became a popular figure in the movement.

I used to like him a lot, a while back. I can no longer stand him since I've been studying up on Economics and markets. He's pretty much an economic illiterate that has advocated socialism, state run health care amongst other big government BS.

He's pretty good on torture, foreign policy and that type of stuff though.

Jesse the dictator. Jesse the socialist Nazi...

I'm glad we have isolated the real threat.

Clearly you are willing to overlook his support for Romneycare, Obamacare, trillion dollar stimulus programs, billionaire bailouts, and more, just because you like his personality. I am not. You can do the passive-aggressive thing for Ventura from this point forward until November of 2012, but it's not going to win you points here. We Paulers are known for upholding principle above party or personality, and we are not about to discard our principles because you are going to moan and sigh and trot out a passive-aggressive attempt to entice us to follow a big-government socialist.

Jesse is great on his show. Jesse is great on foreign policy. Jesse blows chunks on every other domestic policy, and trying to get principled people to abandon our deeply held principles just because you like his superficial personality is just not going to cut it no matter how much you moan and sigh. Sorry.

Biggest problem with Ventura is that he's so out of touch for half the year by living in Mexico. Alex Jones or someone close to him should inundate him with books and news while he is down there. Then he wouldn't crap the bed on issues on healthcare. He initially thought the bailouts were necessary, but then came out against them once he was given info and realized what they were.

Waiting until after a measure passes to oppose it is inexcusable, especially for someone we want for a President. It should not be a question whether something like a bailout is bad. If there IS a question, the confused one does NOT deserve my support, no matter how cool his personality may be. Personality over principle is what put Obama in office.
