Message of Freedom, Liberty inspires Cross Country Bike Ride

Portland, Or - October 09, 2007 - Using the bike friendly city of Portland to put the final touches on preparations and logistics, the Ron Paul Riders will in Portland, October 16 and 17, 2007.

Touting "Crossing America for a Sustainable Future" the duo of Michael Maresco, 45, Hawaii, and Damon Talbot, 30, Utah, will launch an incredible 3000 mile journey from the Santa Monica Pier in Southern California, October 21, ending in Washington DC, December 24 at the Jefferson Memorial.

Crossing the country by bicycle is not a new idea but doing so in order to raise awareness for a presidential candidate just might be. Which candidate has inspired them? None other than the "Champion of the Constitution", Congressman Ron Paul; The Thomas Jefferson of our day.

With a mission of bringing the good news of peace and prosperity that Ron Paul represents to all they meet, the pair will be distributing Grassroots Dr. Paul campaign material in more than 96 counties. Their stop in Portland will include trial rides and spending time with the local Ron Paul supporters. The pair will likely be at the Wednesday Banner Brigade off Highway 26 east of the tunnel organized by the local grassroots group from http://ronpaul.meetup.com/118 (http://ronpaul.meetup.com/118)

Talbot first heard of Paul after the Republican debate May 15. After researching him further, the life-long independent found he shared common beliefs with Paul’s platform.

A lifelong adventurer, Maresco has sailed more than 26,000 miles, hitchhiked around America and Australia and backpacked in China. In July, he spread the message of liberty in a 5-day, 130-mile walk around Oahu. As he says, " this bike trip won’t be the biggest adventure of my life, but it will be the greatest so far and one that I hope will help change the direction of our country".
