He asks too nice................. He should have asked "What gives ONE man the balls to decide interest rates, when the market should"

Today's point...

Socialism and Communism Fail because of Price Controls. It was the policies of controlling prices and rationing that destroyed the Soviet Union and Warsaw Pact countries.

The Federal Reserve has the power to control Prices through the many tools they have, especially, setting interest rates and money supplies.

Maybe it's a Fiscal Covert Communistic policy of the FED. Bernake's rebuttal was quoting Milton Freeman... Bernake is like, in your face RP, I just used your buddy Freeman as the justification.

One interesting point, When Ron speaks, THE FEDERAL RESERVE's general council (Lawyers sitting behind Bernake) perk up and give their undivided attention, as oppose to the other committee members.

That was pretty good.

Ron always goes the long way round with his questions and tries to get Bernanke to contradict himself in his answers.

Ron ...Do you agree price fixing is bad for the economy
Ben....Yes i agree
Ron...Isnt setting interest rates a form of price fixing
Ben...Errrrm No- please leave me alone now with your tough questions Mr.Paul

And then the 5 minutes is up. Ron would destroy Bens reputation/credibility if he had a 1:1 for 30 mins

Of course Friedman also told Dr. Paul at some point that he was one of the few people that could make a valid case for the Gold standard.

LOL, some guy asked Bernanke about the effects of this new healthcare stuff on the US economy.

Bernanke wracked his mind for something nice to say and ended up with, "I think everyone agrees that the outlook for the US economy"....pause, thinking, " is somewhat dark".

I think I got that correct.
