All right here is the thread idea. You write something that you love about Ron Paul AND you post a House Resolution, a bill, or some other piece of legislation where Ron Paul was the only person to vote 'Nay' (or in the rare case 'Yea' I guess) while everyone else voted the other way. Also you should 'number' the link to the legislation with the current count. So my count will start at '1' after I write my 'what I love about Ron Paul' part.

Also, please make the legislation title a link to the actual vote ( I know there would be many more if Congress actually recorded votes instead of doing voice counts ). Also, please post a link to a blog or article post where Ron explains his position if one exists.

Thanks!!

EDIT: Rules change up. You can also post a bill, or piece of legislation that Ron tried to submit that either didn't get past committee, or whatever, as long as no one helped co-sponsor it, or he was the only one who voted in favor of it (which is unlikely, as most of Ron's suggested legislation never gets past committee.) Anyway, I started this rule with the addition of post #7.

I'll start:

Anyway, so I was looking up some stuff about China in the Ron Paul library (http://ronpaullibrary.org/document.php?id=1112) and as usual was blown away by the mans wisdom, when I looked at the voting results of HR 1370 (http://www.govtrack.us/congress/vote.xpd?vote=h2008-539) (see link below). He's the only 1 who voted 'Nay'!!!! So I was like, "man that's what I love about Ron Paul, he does what is right, not what looks good". So I was like, "what a cool thread idea".

So here you go. How many bills can we find where Ron Paul shows how shamefully degenerate our legislature has become? Post a bill where he was the only one to vote on the side of Liberty!! Here's number one:

#1 H. RES. 1370: Calling on the Government of the People's Republic of China to immediately end abuses of the human rights of its citizens (http://www.govtrack.us/congress/vote.xpd?vote=h2008-539)

Hmmm, what else do I love about Ron Paul....

Oh, I love the wicked way he giggles at the stupidity of the knuckleheads in Congress!!

Here's another China one, with RP all alone. When will our retarded Congress realize its not our business or right to go around bullying other countries at the end of a gun?

#2 H. RES 605: Recognizing the continued persecution of Falun Gong practitioners in China on the 11th anniversary of the Chinese Communist Party campaign to suppress the Falun Gong spiritual movement and calling for an immediate end to the campaign to persecute, intimidate, imprison, and torture Falun Gong practitioners.

Go Ron Go!!!

OK, rule modification. If you've already posted "What I Love about Ron Paul!!!" you don't have to do that part every time if you already did. You can just post a link.

And man is it fun!! I mean, when you find one, cuz you're like "I found some evidence!!" Evidence of what you ask!!

Evidence, my friend, of the abysmal ineptitude of our so called representatives...

Enjoy!!

#3 H. RES 560: Expressing support for all Iranian citizens who embrace the values of freedom, human rights, civil liberties, and rule of law, and for other purposes. (http://www.govtrack.us/congress/vote.xpd?vote=h2009-411)

And a bonus. Here's Ron Paul's article (http://ronpaullibrary.org/document.php?id=1234) on the Resolution.

And here's one for about Gaza.

#4 H. RES 951: Condemning the ongoing Palestinian rocket attacks on Israeli civilians by Hamas and other Palestinian terrorist organizations, and for other purposes. (http://www.govtrack.us/congress/vote.xpd?vote=h2008-93)

Another classic FAIL by our Congress.

And his statement (http://ronpaullibrary.org/document.php?id=1055) on his vote.

Here's one about the Census.

Oh Congress. Tis sad. Oh so sad.

#5 H. RES 1096: Encouraging individuals across the United States to participate in the 2010 Census to ensure an accurate and complete count beginning April 1, 2010, and expressing support for designation of March 2010 as Census Awareness Month.

And a blog post by Ron on why he voted alone (http://blogs.chron.com/txpotomac/2010/03/ron_paul_why_i_voted_against_e_1.html)....again... on this retarded legislation.

#6 Crap, have to redo this one. I guess he did vote for H. J Res 64

Here's the first one I'm posting that was something of Ron's (not something he alone dissented on, but rather something he tried to get introduced that only he supported, i.e. no cosponsors and didn't pass committee), obviously a wicked idea, that never got past committee.

Shame, shame Subcommittee on Health and Environment. No cosponsors? I guess taxing the elderly when they are dying and need medication is just the American way.

#7 H. Res 3636, 106th CONGRESS, 2d Session: Pharmaceutical Freedom Act of 2000 (http://www.thomas.gov/cgi-bin/bdquery/z?d106:h.r.03636:)

Read the bill (http://ronpaullibrary.org/document.php?id=886), its classic Ron. It's a shame that no one listens to Ron on health care reform.

What's that?

You want one more before I go to sleep.

Sure thing. How bout this gem...

#8 H. Res 3004, 107th Congress: Financial Anti-Terrorism Act of 2001: To combat the financing of terrorism and other financial crimes, and for other purposes. (http://www.govtrack.us/congress/vote.xpd?vote=h2001-390)

This never became law, but was hardly needed with the passage of the PATRIOT act shortly after (this bill was never voted on in the Senate). But when the vote was held in the House, only Ron dissented. Here, again (http://www.ronpaullibrary.org/document.php?id=749), is Ron Paul's common sense falling on deaf ears.

Thank you sir may I have another.

#9 H.R. 180, 110th Congress: Darfur Accountability and Divestment Act, To require the identification of companies that conduct business operations in Sudan, to prohibit United States Government contracts with such companies, and for other purposes. (http://www.govtrack.us/congress/vote.xpd?vote=h2007-764)

Congress never ceases to FAIL.

And his reason is here (http://www.ronpaullibrary.org/document.php?id=923).

EDIT: Man, judging by how many of these bills say "and for other purposes" at the end, I should have named the thread that. Probably would have got more attention than "Why I Love Ron Paul!!!".

And 10 should do it for today.

#10 H. Res. 1181, 110th Congress: Expressing condolences and sympathy to the people of Burma for the grave loss of life and vast destruction caused by Cyclone Nargis. (http://www.govtrack.us/congress/vote.xpd?vote=h2008-306)

There's a few articles/blogs on Google of douche-bags saying Ron is being a cold-hearted hater on this "symbolic" legislation, but here are the key parts on why he voted no, alone, again, as usual...

(5) calls for the Burmese military junta to consider the well-being of its people and accept broad international assistance; and

(6) demands that the referendum to entrench military rule be called off, allowing all resources to be focused on disaster relief to ease the pain and suffering of the Burmese people.

It's not the Federal governments job to be telling governments in other countries, no matter how illegitimate, what to do and how to run their country.

Admittedly these are getting a little harder to find. I'll likely have to start posting more legislation that RP introduced that he got no support on (like post #7).

But here's another happy helping of Congressional douche-baggery.

Enjoy!!!

#11 H.R. 4115, 106th Congress: To authorize appropriations for the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum, and for other purposes (http://www.govtrack.us/congress/vote.xpd?vote=h2000-454)

Here's a quote just for fun, kind of relevant about how Ron is always by himself: “To dare to live alone is the rarest courage; since there are many who had rather meet their bitterest enemy in the field, than their own hearts in their closet.” -Charles Caleb Colton

You Go Ron!!!! :D

Here's his usual down to earth explanation (http://ronpaullibrary.org/document.php?id=831) of why he isn't a tool like all the rest.

Here's one about giving somebody a $30,000 gold medal at the taxpayers expense.

#12 H.R. 3557, 106th Congress: To authorize the President to award a gold medal on behalf of the Congress to John Cardinal O'Connor, Archbishop of New York, in recognition of his accomplishments as a priest, a chaplain, and a humanitarian. (http://www.govtrack.us/congress/vote.xpd?vote=h2000-18)

Here's the text of RP Rpwn'ing his colleagues (http://ronpaullibrary.org/document.php?id=884) who seem to enjoy using the treasury like their own personal credit card.

And another fun quote: "The strongest man in the world is he who stands alone." - Henrik Ibsen

#13 To provide for the award of a gold medal on behalf of Congress to Arnold Palmer in recognition of his service to the Nation in promoting excellence and good sportsmanship in golf. (http://www.govtrack.us/congress/vote.xpd?vote=h2009-210)

"It is certainly nothing personal against Mr. Palmer. In fact, Congressman Paul admires him greatly. Dr. Paul opposes using public monies for any and all of these gold medals given to private citizens, just on principle. Not to mention, it is unconstitutional to use taxpayer dollars in this way. He even suggested on the House Floor before he voted against Rosa Parks's medal that if it meant so much to the Members of Congress, why not fund the award out of their own pockets? He pulled $100 out of his own wallet, but had no other takers. At a time like this when all budgets are stretched so thin, it seems especially inappropriate to lavish gifts like this on private citizens, as much as he may admire the individual."
