I've been listening on and off and so far I don't think we've gotten one in. If we do get some significant amendments in, it will send the bill back to the house where it is unlikely to pass. This is the "fix-it" bill.

Anyway, does anyone know if we've gotten any amendments into the bill?

I'm not saying you're wrong but why is it unlikely if it goes back to the House? Didn't they just pass this bill?

It was a close vote, Dem reps are fealing the heat of their constiturnts and many are feeling burned - like what's come out about the EO being worthless, and depending on the amendments, some are going to be very unpopular.

Also, I'm not positive, but I think if the house passes it again with amendments it goes back to the senate and they no longer get a pass with 51 votes under reconciliation and would have to get 60 votes to get it considered again and they don't have 60.

I could easily me mistaken about the process, but I think that is the deal.

I think the GOP is gonna shoot the Reconciliation bill with holes. I hope they do.

Hope they get something in.

The article is 4 hours old and they are still at it.

Sen Harry Reid just commented that the Republicans had introduced something like 36 amendments and not gotten a single one approved. He expressed concern about what the American people were going to think about that.

The republican reply was that that was more ammendments than they had been able to introduce previously through the whole process and that Senate repubs wanted to work with Dems to improve the bill.

They sound tired, but it's after midnight and they are keeping going...
